Looking for a Urban Survival Knife

Have you looked at Scrapyard knives? They're Bussekin and have a warranty that covers everything except intentional damage. Last time I checked they were doing a run of knives and when they're done it could be a while before they do another run.

I'd also think to give the HEST a closer look. Other than being a bit smaller than you mentioned, its versatile and robust, even incorporating a wire breaker and prybar. It also can be carried more discreetely than the other ones mentioned, which is a big plus in an urban environment IMO.

EESE RC-5

5" 1095 Blade, canvas micarta scales, .25" thick. Designed as a downed pilot knife which probably matches "urban" scenarios. In other words, not gonna be one's first choice for skinning a mink. Also comes with a partially serrated edge. It is a beast.

Team this up with a leatherman Surge (also a beast), a SAK of some sort, and modern semi-auto sidearm...you'd be set for urban scanarios.

My urban setup consists of a TOPS Pry Knife with the TOPS Pry-Probe-Punch Tool. I added a leatherman.

Can't get much more "Urban" than that.

I have a couple of Fehrmans, including a Last Chance. However, those are my "outdoor" survival knives. Seems like that style is what most people are trying to talk you in to. Hey, they work great for wilderness survival, but they have some real drawbacks for urban use.
For urban scenarios, I would much rather have the TOPS system because that's what it's made for.

Becker makes a larger version of this design, the TacTool.

Or, get an outdoor knife, and make do with what ya got. Good luck prying open that steel door.

My urban survival knife is a Strider DB-L. If you manage somehow to break it, they will fix or replace it.* S30V is somewhat similar to 3V

*as long as you didn't modify it.
