ok im looking to get a watch for camping, hiking probably everyday wear. i dont want to spend anymore then 100 dollars.

i like the look of these http://countycomm.com/jsar.htm

so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

thank you dylan

casio G shock, solar atomic. bulletproof at well under 100 from wally world. great watch and dead on accurate. great piece of gear for the money.

Have to agree with the Casio. Though I would buy a less expensive model. I have cracked more than a few crystals on watches in the past. I find a $30 watch does the same job with less worry. Good luck.

If you like those BIG watches ... for a little less money ... I just got a Black Monster, after looking and looking at them, I finally got one. VERY pleased. Yesterday, the bezel froze up, looked like some gunk got in there. Hot soapy water, rinse, and the bezel is perfect again! Actually, clicks right along smoother than when I got it (used).

Mine came with a Maratac band like these http://countycomm.com/pvc.htm but it also takes the rubber Casio wave bands and there is a metal bracelet available also.

I guess they go new for about $150 but you should be able to find one a little cheaper. They've got a great rep for durability. So far, so good by me!

Have you ever had a watch like that? I'd recommend checking out a similar watch in a store before you buy one. I find watches like that too heavy for hiking, but a lot of people like the feel of the extra weight.

I have a Suunto Observer LTt that is titanium with a leather band that has served me very well for a few years of hiking and everday wear. The price is over $100 (I paid $200), but you can find the non-titanium one pretty cheap. It has a barometer, altimeter, compass, and thermometer. I never use them, but it's nice to know they are there. :D

Also +1 here for a G-shock. I got one and I love it just as much as my Seiko.

I think amazon has the GW-5600 for like 60. Or get the cheaper, battery powered one for 30-40. They're light weight, rugged, and pretty decent sized (though not as big as the jumbo SAR).

My vote is also for one of the Seiko "Monster" watches. I have an "Orange Monster" that I LOVE.

Why dont you send spend a little more (like 170ish) and go to your corner store.comand buy a luminox thier they best hard use watch out there

Get a Seiko with the 7S26 automatic movement. Any Seiko "5" model will do. All of them are at least 5ATM waterproof, built to very high standards for the money and will run close to forever. eBay is loaded with them. Many will fall into your price-range.

The 7S26 is very accurate and remarkably sophisticated (tore a few of them apart myself), although factory-regulation varies from sample to sample. Expect something between + 10 and +20 secs/24. Near-impossible to regulate by a non-professional (I used to fall into that category myself :D ), spend a few bucks to have this done by a good local watchmaker. I got mine within 1 or 2 secs a day now.

Remember, you want a watch that doesn't break down on you because of an empty battery! When I'm off to Sweden end of this month, it's gonna be the Seiko for me. Seiko's automatic winding system is more efficient than any Swiss system out there. Remember you heard that from me!

What about a Citizen Eco-Drive? :D

I picked one up for just over $100 (used but I couldn’t tell), it’s a great watch. I don’t do much diving (I’m rather land locked) but it is me dedicated movie theater watch, easy to read the time even after a few hours in the dark.

there is a site that is selling the monster (orange or black) on strap for $145.00 + S&H. Now this is a "gray" market watch, but the selling company will warranty for 2 years with in-house repair. Good deal IMO if you want to spend more and go that route.

There are several companies not mentioned you could check out. Invicta, Alpha and Orient are a couple of them. Also you could search a site like http://watchuseek.com for a good used watch for a great deal.

Remember the price-range we're restricted to...

i would love to have a citizen eco driven!! im going to go to camping later this week and im supposed to be getting gift cards to rei for my birthday that is why im probably limited to 100 dollars give or take.

thank you for all of the suggestions im considering a swiss army watch cus thats what rei has that seem like a decent brand.

See the post above me. :)

REI doesn't have any Citizens last time I checked though.

My dad still has one of these St. Moritz Pathfinders that I got him 10 years ago. Great watch for your needs - titanium, alarm and 100m water resistant. I'd spend the additional $10 for the rubber strap, it smells like vanilla. This place seems to have a sale ongoing, so the price is pretty good.

This is slightly over the $100 limit. Essentially the same watch without the alarm is the Atlas at about $85.
