looking for a watch.

I usually wear a Casio Mudman 3050 GW-9000A when I'm hiking/camping.

Amazon has it for about $92 for the atomic version. The regular battery version is $62.
I's a fairly big watch, but pretty light which makes it ideal for long trips. I've been fishing, mountain biking, kayaking etc with it and after a little cleaning, still looks relatively new. One of the great things about it is that it has raised rubber bumps on the back, so the SS backing doesn't actually touch your skin. Because of the air flow, no build up of sweat or moisture on the back.

The last one is a chronograph, which will time things. A bit much for what I needed.

The Swiss Army watch is overpriced, in my opinion. I'm sure it's tough and durable, but $175?

I have that watch ($81) and it's the real deal.

Its probably the most affordable way to get a watch with a sapphire crystal.

The Citizens have mineral crystals which are not only more affordable, but almost as scratch resistant. :)

Though I had overlooked that feature. :foot:

I don’t wanna here about scratch resistance right now. Yesterday I was walking along the side of a building tripped over my own feet and gouged my watch into the stone wall.:o

One of my favorite watches to, a Swiss Army (Wenger not Vic). At least I learned that even now I can be a clumsy oaf and on a confrontation between a stone wall and a mineral crystal the stone wall is going to win.

I agree though if you’ve never had a Citizen Eco Drive you should get that, they’re great watches.

 I hate it when that happens.

If I think I'm going to mess the watch up I just wear my Timex. $8 for shipping and they'll replace anything that's broken. Not sure if that's written somewhere, but that's been my experience.

Go with the citizen 81.00, I have three eco drives and love them, don't worry about the mineral crystel I wear one every day and I work construction, only a few scratches and you can hardly notice, and I don't try to be careful.

If you like those BIG watches ... for a little less money ... I just got a Black Monster, after looking and looking at them, I finally got one. VERY pleased. Yesterday, the bezel froze up, looked like some gunk got in there. Hot soapy water, rinse, and the bezel is perfect again! Actually, clicks right along smoother than when I got it (used).

Mine came with a Maratac band like these http://countycomm.com/pvc.htm but it also takes the rubber Casio wave bands and there is a metal bracelet available also.

I guess they go new for about $150 but you should be able to find one a little cheaper. They've got a great rep for durability. So far, so good by me!

I have the Orange Monster and love it.
