Hello. I'm looking for a way I can sign my knives. I'm only on my first 2 knives so I want to avoid stencils, or using the car battery and nail polish method. Are there any permanent markers that might last for some time on a blade?

Other than a set of letter stamps I can't think of much besides a electro chem etcher. I have seen people use a dremel engraver but it usually provides less than appealing results. A cheap set of letter stamps used on ricasso per heat treat may be an option.

I bought the dremel engraving bit and was less than pleased with the results. luckily I was just marking the tang before sending out for HT. Thanks for your input!

You can use a vibrating engraving tool. With practice, the results can be very good. Many big time makers started off using one of these.
Using a rotary tool for engraving never works well.
You can take your knife blades to a local trophy shop or jeweler that offers machine engraving services. They can mark them economically.
