Hey folks, help me decide on a new wharncliff. Would like the blade to be around 3" long , with a clip. don't like slipjoints. :o Thanks,Z

zealot,I recommend a Mike Obenauf model 3:

Perfect carry size,solid,and smooth.No bolsters,less weight!

If you like overbuilt liner-locks, the BM 425 Gravitator is a solid wharnie. I've got a review of it with pics in the Reviews section...

Mine gets plenty of EDC time!

Thanks, good suggestions. Out of all these I like the gravitator the best. Could some one post a comparison pic of say, a mini-grip next to the gravi-tater ? :o Thanks,Z

I'll second the 921...always liked that knife.

The new ZDP Leek sounds pretty killer.

The Centofante 4 is an obvious pic, one of the better looking wharnies.

Hey Zealot,

Sorry, had a busy day so I haven't been back to check up on this thread...

I don't own a Mini-Grip, but have a standard. Here is a pic of it next to a BM 710, a 910, and then the Grip. It's almost the exact same blade length as the standard Grip, with a much beefier frame. Sorry that they aren't exactly lined up in the pic...

I'd personally have preferred a satin version of the 425, except I got a killer deal on the 425 at a brick and mortar.

You got my attention on this knife. Is it heavy? it looks like it'd be heavy. Thanks Z

And another vote for the Centofante 4. Mine is just too slick, smooth, compact and is an excellent cutter. Benchmades can be nice too but some of them can be huge and heavy. The spyderco carries very well, and has a better steel if you can sharpen it. S30 may be more durable on rough or gritty things like old rope but the VG10 is known for being easier to sharpen, takes a scalpel like edge, and is better than 154 CM in both edge holding and not rusting. These are some of the reasons I chose it. It also has a real palladium/silver medallion like thing on it. How often do you see palladium laying around? Regards, Joe L.

I agree with the Centofante 4 also.
It is an excellent knife.
And just in case you did not know, it has a single steel liner for added strength!

Good luck,
Allen.

Benchmade 670 Apparition. Assisted openers have fallen by the wayside for me, but you can remove the Optimizer bar to make it a manual linerlock.
