Looking for a whittling knife to pass down

I've been whittling for years and have never once reached for a spey blade, nor have I ever seen one on little knives designed and built specifically for whittling. Hey, but if it works for you, go for it.

A spey is definitely not ideal, but works as a gouge in a pinch. The only time I have used mine when whittling was when making a spoon while sitting on a park bench. When doing some serious whittling, I use a proper spoon gouge.
