looking for affordable edc

Para2 or manix2 or sage 1.

Leek g10/s30v or blur s30v.

5 of my favorites. I'll add the BM940, only because I got a used one for $65.
I currently rotate the Para2 and Sage1, and highly recommend both.

If going for a Kershaw/ZT, Dave the Kershawguy is the source for great service and prices on nothing-actually-wrong-with-them blems.

Good luck!

Being that you're on a budget, have you considered the buck vatage pro?

You mentioned that you would like something a little unique, have you checked out the kershaw speedform 2

If your high end is $100.00 I would say wait a week until you have another $8.00 because you can get a para 2 shipped for $108.00. You won't be disappointed. The para 2 is the knife you want.

Boker has some cool stuff to check out like the Albatros (VG 10, Ti framelock) or the Anti-MC (ceramic blade, Ti framelock). I dont have any experience with either, but they both have a unique look, and have good reviews.

Im a senior in high school so I dont have the money for an expensive folder but im looking for any suggestions in 60 to 100 dollar range.
been considering full size grip or the endura 4

Any Spyderco will do.. Stretch your bill a little bit and grab a Spyderco Sage

The manix2 uses the same steel (154cm) as the grip. Sharpening should not be an issue. Besides, better, tougher to sharpen steels are an incentive to learn to sharpen. Also, I have zero problem sharpening s30v either on my sharpmaker or free hand. S30v isn't really that bad, nothing like zdp189 or cts-xhp, s90v, m390, and a few others can be quite a hassle but I definitely would not be scared off by s30v. Its a great user edc steel.

Iirc, the Manix2 got bumped up to S30V and it still sells for the same price, except its still hollow ground.

FIRST POST YAY!

(anyways) i just picked up a mini grip at cuttlery shoppe for only $60 and i love it. Im not sure what your state laws are, but you may want to consider something under 3" for edc unless you want a little drama from the authorities. if the 3" law doesnt apply to your state then ignore said statement. But cuttlery shoppe has 25% off benchmade right now with code "bm25" and free shipping with the code "nutnfancy" (since your on budget).

I like my mini grip a whole lot, I know the grip feels "cheap" but it is very lightweight and feels o-so-comfortable in my hand, and the axis lock is just something else. I dont have experience with spyderco, but ive been looking at the delica wave and might suggest that as well.

thank you everyone for helping me out with suggestions it is really going to help me decide on what knife to get
discomonkey32 I feel honored to have your first post on my thread :) and i live in texas so I carry around pretty much what ever I want and no one cares

Maybe have a look at the Kershaw G10 Speed Bump: solid build and good ergos with decent steel. Can be found online at varying price (in the $60 range lately), or you could support the forum and buy from KershawGuy (recommended).
If nothing else, it's certainly unique in form and function. I really like mine.

Kershaw Junkyard or Spyderco Resilience. Spyderco's Edura with a ZDP blade is also very good.

Here's My Two Pennies On The Subject At Hand....
Benchmade Griptilian 550HG - Just Got Mine Recently - It's GREAT.
Spyderco Paramilitary 2 - You Can Get One In Varying Price Ranges.
Spyderco Manix 2 XL - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Spyderc...767?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item2a19b0d547 - Go $5 Over Your Budget... You Know You Want To.

Spyderco Endura 4 FFG - Very Nice Knife.
Or If You Want Really Affordable - Spyderco Tenacious, Spyderco Resilience, Kershaw Shallot, Kershaw JYD II, Etc.

If you want to have something a little different but easily keep the price in the $70 range, take a look at the Spyderco Pacific Salt in Yellow or I think better for your situation a Salt 1 in Yellow. The unique part of the Salt series is of course the H1 steel. It's good in water, salt water, rain or whatever. Not much can really equal that capability. The Salt series is also the very thin and easy to carry 3rd generation mold without steel liners. The Yellow looks very "sporty" and not so tactical weapon like but gives up absolutely nothing in cutting ability. Good luck with your purchase!

Precision

wow thats weird that is one of my considerations i researched it alot and am definitely considering that one

Buck vantage pro. S30V and G10 for about $50. Can't be beaten.
Or if you don't mind spending less, the RAT-1 is a necessity to every knife owner.

I have an ffg endura. Very nice to carry and good ergos, blade steel, ect.....If you want something bigger the resilience is nice too, smaller....the delica. Spydercos quality is pretty hard to beat in lower priced knives

Before making up your mind I think you ought to take a hard look at some of Kershaw's more expensive knives. The two that really stand out in my mind are the JYD II with the awesome composite blade, as well as the newer Speed form, also there is the S30V Blur which has kinda developed a following IMO. All in all you've got a ton of options considering your price range and as far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with most if not all of the knives mentioned in this thread. I feel that these days we live in the hay day of production knives but that's just my opinion and their are many who would challenge that ideal.
