But it would be too easy if I did not have a few restrictions on that search, right? ;)

Locktype:
  • NO framelock
  • NO linerlock
  • The more interesting the better!
Handles:
  • NO metal (except for Copper maybe)
  • NO Horn/Stag/Antlers/etc.
Steel: D2 / VG10 / 154CM / 9Cr18MoV ... or better ...

Blade:
  • Not too "tacticool"
  • prefer no "extreme" Clip- or Spearpoint
  • Length ideally around 3" to 3.25"
I hope you guys can still find something that fits that list :D

Use the blade hq search engine. You can literally click every option your asking for with the (filter by) feature. Not saying I would buy it from there neccesarily.

But they have the most user friendly website I've ever seen.

Sounds like the SOG Terminus XR would be right up your alley. Maybe even the ProTech Cambria, and their new Malibu (coming soon) depending on your price range. Also I'm not a huge fan of Spyderco, but some of their flippers, like the Ikuchi might interest you.

hard to match all of that. check out the skblades Buck marksmen in grey g10. think he calls it the grey ghost or something to that effect worth a look.

Or the normal Buck Marksman.

I'm looking for most of the same things. I like flippers, I dislike liner/frame locks. I do like 154CM, so that's cool.

Edit: Ah, the normal Marksman has aluminum handles. Bummer.

SOG Terminus XR and SK Blades "Grey Ghost" are my favorites so far.
The Pro-Techs look intersting as well but are way more expensive, so they go onto the B-List for now.
Don't like Spyderco in general so the Ikuchi is out for me.
The Benchmade 300 Axis Flipper is discontinued and has some very poor reviews concerning the flipper action, so not up there as well.

Thanks @ll and please keep 'em coming :)

The Kershaw Induction flips great and might fit the bill if you're alright with 8Cr13MoV and an aluminum frame.

Silent H Silent H : Did a bit of reasearch ... and I "promoted" the Spyderco Ikuchi from "nah, it's Spyderco after all" to "this one might be interesting despite being Spyderco" ;)
So thanks again for that one! :D

How much are you willing to spend? "Affordable" means different things to different people.

No liner or frame lock eliminates the majority of the flippers out there.

I got a little crazy with mine
Polished to the max! That looks pretty good. How did you get it that polished? Buffing wheel?

I've been debating getting one but I'm undecided between 3.25 and 3.75 in versions.

I wish they did a 3.5 instead. The weight difference between the 2 is huge if it's accurate.
4.9oz vs 8.6oz

I'll probably get the big XL chunker.

Sandpaper from 120 to 2000 then red compound I think, then green compound on a T-shirt.
I just got a buffing wheel but I haven’t set it up yet. I’ll probably try buffing it with the green once I get it set up.

It was SUPER easy to scratch though. I was using a tiny buffing wheel on a dremell with the red compound, and I kept slipping and gouging the copper with part of the dremell. I had to go alll the way back to 120 to get the scratch out. Did that 3 or 4 times actually...

Richard Coyle Richard Coyle : Thanks, got all three of them on the list already ;)
.
And I am more of a patina than a polish guy ;)

I actually did a patina on the blade, added a sharpening choil, and crowned the spine. It didn’t get much darker from the patina, it just gave it more texture.314459DC-1CBB-4F01-B1A1-7E19603010DE.jpeg
I’m contemplating regrinding also.

As inexpensive as possible given the criterea I mentioned. No Upper limit. If it is "cool" enough I can afford the time to save up the money.
Thinking about how thrilled I am with the CIVIVI Elementum it should not get too extreme though! ;)

Aye, I have about 100-ish of those around already, that's why I want to find some new and defferent ones...

Probably a button lock or a compression lock would be the next options after eliminating liner/frame lock knives?

Oh wow, I was hoping you were going to say a little bit of brasso and some elbow grease.
