Looking for an affordable custom maker

the coolest folder i have seen was a dpx hest folder. and you could probably find it in your price range.

If you go towards 250, then look at Alan Davis here on the forum. Nice guy, great knives for reasonable prices

If you wanted a wharnie butterfly, I could help you out. I second the Yojimbo 2.

There was a custom folder in the exchange right now for 130 dollars, but I just said Ill take it:D. Snody has a friction folder for sale right now for 233, I also just got one of them.

probably if you find a new custom maker the price will be good, like, if they are confident enough to sell their work but know they have some room for improvement and just want the opportunity to make new blades but recoup some of the related costs.

You just described me in that post.

like uhh sub 200, if there is even makers who do such a thing? I want a folder tho.

Yes, there are. Peek around in the exchange and Makers' Gallery. I do not make folders at this time, so do not construe this as a sales pitch.

I think when people say you can get a custom for the price of some production knives they are referring to companies like CRK and Strider, whose knives go for $400+.

I disagree. There are a lot of very nice handmade knives out there for $200 or less. At that level you're not going to get fossilized dinosaur bone or gold-filled engraving, but you can get carefully-ground and excellently HT'ed blades made from top-notch steel.

Please support custom knifemakers. Doing so puts groceries on the tables of hard-working families, not money in the pockets of advertising executives and overseas labor.

You could easily find a custom fixed blade and get a pocket sheath made for it. I've seen (and made) some pretty inconspicuous pocket sheaths. You can even get them with a pocket clip, then it it's just like drawing a waved folder out of your pocket, just without the *click* of the lock ;)
