looking for an office carry folder - SAK solo or sodbuster?

I am looking for a more sheeple-friendly folder to carry in office. I am looking for a good cutter that requires minimal maintenance. I have pretty much narrowed down to SAK solo, Boker plus sodbuster (440c blade), and Queen country cousin in D2. What do you think about those knives?

Thanks!

really? really? you work in office that is that uptight? if thats true then i say go with an old fashioned looking barlow. ive had the h.r. dept. get me caus' they know i have a pocket knife on me at all times. barlow= 2 blades and you look like a harmless older man. flashy= young stud looking for trouble. imo lol

I think the Vic Solo would make an excellent office knife. You could probably just leave it on your desk without anyone giving it a second thought. The Victorinox Pocket Pal is a similar model, but with a small blade at the other end and the traditional friendly red plastic handles. It's always been my experience that people who frown on something like a trapper or stockman won't bat an eye at a SAK.

At least he gets to carry something. My bro-in-law is a chemical engineer with Dow, and they won't let him carry anything. I'm sure he would be happy to have a traditional folder in his pocket. Compared to carrying nothing, having a nice Sodbuster in your pocket would be fantastic. :)

If you carry a Cadet, you have other tools to use rather then have to pull out a knife blade all the time. I have used my Cadet's can opener to pull staples and even open boxes. I lent the nail file to the secretary to use on her nails..... BIG brownie points for that. I used the can opener's driver head to pry open a file cabinet that wouldn't open. Occasionally I use the knife blade as well, but after seeing all the things the other tools get done in and around the office, no one views it as a knife. They see it as a helpful, useful, and NEEDED tool.

I'd recommend the Cadet or the Secretary. Secretary has small and large blades, cadet has blade adn other useful tools.

What about the executive? Have you looked at that one?

of the three choices listed in the OP i would pick the SAK solo. i like the pocket pal suggestion. uber light weight with a good pen blade. the cadet would be my ultimate choice mostly for all the other features that can be so handy. i have ground an edge on my file for an extra blade/ awl. you gotta be careful while using the file however :D

In my view, an office carry needs to be light and slim, less weight the better.

CASE pen-knife in yellow delrin is not going to alarm anybody and if you choose the stainless variant, you have no maintenance chores. Same could be said for a CASE Slimline Trapper for that matter, a good bit longer but slim and light.

That executive is one sweet knife. unfortunately it doesn't come in alox. I love those shiny little critters! I was looking at the soldier, farmer, bantam, and the solo. Because I also carry a swiss-tech utili-key on my keychain, I decide I don't need another bottle-opener or screwdriver. That's pretty much why I finally settled down with the solo.
