looking for an Ulu knife, help!

I know. It's also the wrong style. His mother likes the Inupiat ulus. But since it was mentioned, and it is one of the more spectacular examples, I thought I'd show it off. :)

I came across this post awhile back. The guy Darrel Aune is the user called firemaker on this forum. He custom made one for Jeff Wagner (page two). I dont know how much he charges for them but hes worth checking out. I have been wanting to get a knife of his for awhile but also cant afford one right now.

Thank you to all the folks who responded. I picked up her Ulu yesterday. As is typical for me, I went waaaayyyy over budget and paid $89 for it. It was made by Eagle River Knife Company, here in Alaska. It has a 440 blade, and laminated wood handle. I'm normally not a huge fan of laminated wood handles, cause they seem so "Frost Cutleryish" but...I managed to find a fairly attractive piece, and since it's going to be a knife that's used in the kitchen alot, etc. the increased stability will probably be a good thing.

I checked out the Knives of Alaska Magnum Ulu, but...when it came down to it, that was much more of a belt/hunting knife than a kitchen/fishing/hunting knife. In the end I decided she's happily used the traditional styled Ulu with a traditional handle for quite awhile now, so...why should I try to change anything?

Once again, thanks to all who contributed!
