I work with a gentleman that had a spyderco endura from the first production that he totally killed, i couldnt even save it. So i mentioned to him about buying a knife online, i mentioned spyderco or benchmade. So i told him i would look online and email him some links. What are some good online vendors to order from? He works on boats fishing and with lobsters and he also works on skis but he does some construction also. I mentioned the spyderco salts or maybe a benchmade d'allara but if i can get hom a good 80$-100$ knife online im sure he could get a very good knife. Any suggestions? Maybe even a kershaw?

For marine use a knife from the Spyderco Salt range is an excellent choice. My personal favourite is the Pacific. I carry them both at work and at home in my dry suits.

The Griptilians are great for land based activities. I am currently using a pair of full sized Grips as my work knives - a 551 in a pouch on my uniform belt and a 550HG in my firejacket.

I have found the 550HG's blade to be a very useful shape for utility tasks.
