I have heard such horror stories about how hard D2 is to reprofile, and how it takes a horrible edge..
But I just did my 710D2 as per Joe's article in about an hour.. Would probaby be quicker if I didn't slice the end of my thumb off last night with my wife's new Santoku.. but live and learn - opposable thumbs are a big plus! The end result is hair popping sharpness from tip to recurve, and toothy slicing goodness within the recurve. FAR better than what I received in the factory box. The time involved was well worth it!
I did remove the thumb studs before starting just to decrease any interference on the rods and had no trouble at all.
