Hello all-
I am looking for a combat knife that is durable, has a 6-7in. blade length, blacksteel, and has a handle that is comfortable and secure to hold upside down(butt of knife points up near your thumb, blade of knife lies on your forearm.) costing no more then 50$. Any links, personal prefrence of brands ect. would be very helpfull.

Thanks

I'll third the Ka-Bar. Also check out the Glock Field Knife, the Becker BK7, and the Camillus CQB Black OPS, just to give you some more options:)

The Close-Quarter Battle Knife handle looks weak, would it hold out if it is banged up/dropped multiple times?

Buck Nighthawk is very comfortable, and definitely in that price range. You'd have to work out some kind of sheath though - you want to carry the knife upside down?

Mine seems sturdy enough... I certainly wouldn't worry about it being dropped. Micarta is durable stuff.

The CU7 is a sturdy knife but I wouldn't call it a sharpened prybar.
I recall owning a Basic 7 with an edge that was probably twice as thick.

Talking about big bad knives, check out the Ontario Spec Plus Marine Raider Bowie, the Cold Steel Trailmaster, and if you want to go really bad check out Becker BK9 and BK1 the "brute":)

im going to say go with the normal kabar, I have the short kabar which I like better just because it is easier to handle, you cant go wrong with a kabar.

Here is one more for the Glock Field Knife. Comfortable in all grips, it is completely weather resistant. Balanced well for throwing, and completely solid enough for it. The guard also doubles as a bottle opener. Those Austrians definatley know how to go to war!

Sorry about the confusion- I was reffering to the way the knife would be held.

Does anyone have a link to a cheap store that sells that glock feild knife? Does the knife handle have a hard plastic or rubber feel to it?
Thanks to everyone for all the info- you have been extreamly helpful :D

the blackjack grunt is 5.5in, good stainless steel (AUS8) , which is a big advantage in the field to keep that knife in one piece (quiet rust proof), very good knife, good blade (belly and points) and edge (convex) geometry, good handle ergonomics, nice leather sheath (if you need to be discrete, leather is an advantage over kydex, it's just less durable if you don't take care of it from time to times), lots of bangs for the bucks ($72), IMO the right weight and size for your needs (going for a tour in the sand box?)... ;)

Xavier.

Not to start a trend, but...KA-BAR. That's all you need to know; do anything to it and it still holds up. I'll swear by 'em.
