Looking for custom EDC Fixed Blade

I'm currently carrying a Bark River PSK as my EDC knife. The knife is 5.1 inches overall with a blade length of 2.175 inches. The blade has a thickness of .135 inches. Overall I really like the knife. I like the shape of the blade, I like the way it looks etc.

But there are a few things that I would like to change. The knife / blade is a bit short. I'm thinking something 6 inches overall in length with a blade slightly over 2.5 inches would be a bit more useful to me. The blade is also too thick. I think I would like a blade around .1 inches thick. While I appreciate the convex grind on the blade I'm thinking that a V grind would be a bit easier to maintain with standard stones.

Does anyone know of a custom knife maker that can make me a knife with these specifications?

  • 6 inches over all
  • 2.5 inch blade
  • .1 inch thick blade
  • v grind
  • same blade shape as Bark River PSK (what shape is that blade?)
  • roughly same shape as Bark River PSK
 
^Yep Kyle could sure fix you up and Matt Bailey is another maker whose good at creating small EDCs supplied with a nice little sheath.

If you want to be completely blown away by the quality of the blade Kyle Hanson and Matt Bailey are great recommendations. John Doyle and E Scott McGhee both make some amazing little EDC's too.

There's a lot of lesser known makers (myself included) who'd be willing to make you a blade, but if you've got the money I'd go with one of the tried and true bladesmiths.

Getting a custom order is one idea. But my advice would be to look in the fixed blade exchange here regularly; what you are looking for is really not that out of the ordinary.

If nothing else this will give you an idea of what's out there and realistic price points.

Pretty rarified company but what the heck. Small EDCs and the sheaths to carry them is what I do. From simple to not so much.
