Looking for double edged, gladius like sword.

Whoa ! Nice job there ! For some reason it looks smaller than the unfinished product 'in hand'.

Thanks! It looks smaller because there isn't a hand in the picture for size reference. :D It's not huge, for sure, but with an 18" blade it's longer than many of the "tactical gadius" pieces out there, and it actually balances like a sword while being able to function like a machete. :cool:
 
Those Cold Steel Machetes come so dull you will basically need to put an edge on it from scratch, so be prepared, you will need some serious sharpening stuff, a Sharpmaker isnt going to cut it.
 
The CS Gladius Machete will be sharpened from the factory, much like their Two-Handed Katana Machete. It's still dull compared to how I like my choppers to be, but it's at least usable and easy to touch up compared to the edges on their standard machete options. ;)

Thanks for letting me know, I only own the Bowie machete and the Kukuri, both came very dull, but It was a fun project to sharpen them, my first big job on my Work Sharp. Good to know that not all the CS machetes come dull.
 
Still be prepared to spend a little time on the edge, though. Cold Steel may have sharpened those models, but it's still pretty coarse. ;)
 
According to CS's rep on FB, the gladius machete and other 2011 items are due in very soon, within probably the next month. I'm looking forward to mine, although Baltimore Knife and Sword is going to make me a custom fullered one.

Might also consider the HI Tarwar.
