Looking for EDC fixed blade

You've already chosen, but my suggestion is the Dawson "Pocket Knife."

I've said this many times, but M390 is my absolute favorite steel (CruWear is pretty darn close I just don't have a lot of experience with it yet).

There's a lot to love about M390, it's tough enough for normal EDC chores without having to worrying about hitting the occasional staple in cardboard. It holds a keen edge for a very long time, and is very easy to bring it back to that state.

You won't be disappointed by the steel at all. I just would keep in mind it's not made to be super tough, so prying something heavy with it could cause some serious trouble.

I'd consider an Izula since it's cheap enough to beat on/ lose / break (good luck trying) / get confiscated while still being very good at whatever you need it to do.

It's also small enough for comfortable pocket carry, but that heavily depends on your pants. Heck, you can pocket carry 8-10 inch knives with the right sheath and pants.

I'd say as an addition to the Bradford get yourself a Mora Robust.

I own one and it is a great worker blade, but also dirt cheap so you could use the hell out of it and replace it easily.

the leather sheath that comes with Bradford Guardian 3 for horizontal carry is really quite good give it a try before jumping to getting one made.

When you order a Guardian 3 direct from the Bradford website does it include the leather sheath? Or do you have to buy one separately? I saw that they also make a left handed leather sheath which could be used to mount horizontal on my back for right hand draw.

As far as I know they still come with the knife ... you can pick right or left handed and brown or black.

I know they used to and the Guardian 4 I recently bought cane with a leather belt sheath. I think its just extra if you order their kydex offering.

But the leather sheath for the Guardian 3 is for horizontal carry and pretty nice for concealed carry.

If in doubt give them a quick call or email they are great to help out and reply.

Yes I contacted Brad real quick ... the horizontal leather sheath comes with the Guardian 3 still .

The Buck Vanguard is often overlooked as an edc, yet mine work really well, easy to sharpen, hold an edge well, and a good size, with a handle that provides a good grip.

Well. I am really not sure what you are going to do with it. Sounds like you need a heavy duty knife. I EDC my Izula in a Armatus sheath. Also I have a new Dan Tope Bulldod 3.5" very nice. You should look at it. Although I don't own the Bradford. The Bulldog is at the same price point. And its CPM 3V.

On the other side I think you might also look at with a Esee 3. Have the 4. its a beast.

Does anybody have any hands on experience with the Benchmade Steep Country? Its another nice looking small fixed blade that I came across about I don't like the sheath and didn't see too many other options online for sheaths. The knife itself is quite a bit cheaper than the Bradford G3 though.

I found the handle on the Guardian 4 to be perfect, but the one on 3 to be a bit too short. If it works for you great. If not, I'm a pretty big fan of the Bark River Mini Aurora 3V with the DLT kydex sheath. It's an easy veritcal carry.

LT Wright Patriot? I got this for under $100. "Blade Length: 2.5", Blade Steel: D2 Tool Steel, Overall Length: 5.75", Rockwell Hardness: 58-60 RC, D2 steel is abrasive resistant and is an excellent steel for aggressive users. While not a true stainless steel, some refer to it as a "semi-stainless steel" as it does have some stainless steel properties." (The tumbler glass is for size reference only...)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, and putting me on to the Guardian 3. I've watched a bunch of youtube vids about it and its definitely the knife I'm getting. Its perfect for what I want. I'll just have to get a good Kydex sheath that I can use for horizontal back carry. Now the only problem is deciding on the steel, blade finish, and handle material/color. There are so many options I can't make up my mind.

Brad offers kydex sheaths for the G3. If you contact him, maybe he'll substitute a kydex sheath for the leather one. With the available clips, the kydex sheaths can be configured to carry horozontal, left, right, diagonal, iwb, or just about any way you want.

They are also offering the Patriot in AEB-L if it's one you're interested in.

I was torn between it and the Guardian 3 so I now have both ... but have to admit the Bradfords are impressing me alot ... the Guardian 3 and especially the Guardian 4 but the 4 is a bit big for a concealed carry for me ... and the 3 comes with the horizontal carry sheath.

Get the Bradford3G. I carry one every day, horizontal cross-draw belt carry, in M390. A great knife; I've had four; three are gone.

This early Bark River in A2 has been a great edc for me. Full sized 4 5/8" handle with 4" convex ground blade and sheath made by J. C. Rankin, Savage MT. It carries easily and can handle bout anything.
