looking for examples of Mora-sheats

Hi all,

I have 2 Eriksson Moras, one in carbon steel (red handle) and one in a "normal" steel (blue handle). The sheats that came with them are, well, not that nice (plastic).
Has anyone here ever made a new sheat, and if yes, how/what did you use ? I'd like to see some of them, if possible, just to have an idea what can be done to them. Personally I'd like to make something with plasti-card (plastic sheet in various thicknesses), but I'm sure someone made some leather ones.

The knives are quite useful (you all probably know that) and I use them on small camping trips.
No hikes for me at the moment, we have a 6 month old daughter so it may be a while before the whole family goes out again on some kind of "outdoors trip".

So, anyone have some piccies ? Examples ? Please post them !

Thanks!

I know some guys here have made sheaths for Moras. I, though, have never bothered. The Mora knives themselves are ugly, so it makes sense that the sheaths would be, too. Both are functional, though.

Some Americans have been known to make kydex sheaths for Moras. Over here, folks typically make traditionally styled simple leather sheaths, if any.

We're lucky we have many great sheath makers here,
Jeff made this kydex one;

he's done some really sweet work for me.

Thanks for the replies,

Im not really looking to buy one, I just want to have some inspiration / ideas for them, and probably try to make some.

The knives may be ugly, they are functional. Sometimes that's all that matters :)

So, "inside" the leather sheat, what's there ? plastic ? wood ? ...?

These all look very good, thanks for the pictures. :)

Maybe I should "mod" one, too. Some of those (wooden) handles look quite good...

Just the basic Mora sheath, but with the little tab cut off, wrap and necklace are a single piece of paracord, cant remember how long it is, but it's pretty decent, around 40ft I think

i cut the belt loop off my sheath and attached a loop of paracord for a dangler sheath. it works much better in my opinion and looks a little classier. i wrapped the glue area with some fine twine to make it look a little prettier.

the leather is all really nice, i was going to make a sheath with some leather i was given but ended up doing something else with it...oh well, maybe in the future.

On Scene tactical does a fantastic mora and BlackJack grunt sheath. I think the BJ sheaths are sold out of New graham.

This seems a good way to practice my primitive sheathmaking.

I found that a large firesteel can be shoved into the sheath of a mora Clipper so it looks perfect ,mine even match's in colour.

Some Mora knives do come with nice leather sheaths, or you can buy the leather sheaths separately.

Here are four that were made by Eric at On Scene Tactical. The knives are by Hultafors.

I have bought from Eric too. His prices on the Mora sheathes are about as reasonable as can be.

I like the looks of the IRE Chapman, but for a mora, it's difficult to justify a sheath that costs three times the price of the knife.
