Looking for flat ground, ~3 in, fixed blade.

Plus you cant beat RCs warranty.

Maybe not..but you can match it. I can't think of one maker on BF who won't make it right if one of his blades fail.

R.A.T doesn't corner the market on toughness either.

My little AK EDC in action..(1/4" shorter than a BK11)...

With a budget of $200 , there is no need to "settle" on what a production knife company makes. You can have your "perfect" knife built for you.

This isn't a slamming R.A.T post. They do make great outdoors blades. But, not everyone likes coated blades, choils, finger guards,"set" blade lengths, and (compared to a custom) limited scale choices.

runger, I got your email and tried to reply but it wouldn't go through. Please email me here: raylaconico at aol.com
Thanks.

My only problem with going custom is that I'd have to buy an immediately available one because I am leaving on September 13. I was going to bring my Chris Reeve Umnumzaan on the trip, but I recently decided to go fixed.

Sounds like you want a RAT cutlery RC-3 its pretty much the perfect ligh companion knife. you may also be able to score a hest which is a little smaller and a little thicker.

I would *highly* recommend a Fehrman Peace Maker. One of the best designed blades in that size, IMO. Their steel (CPM 3V) will run circles around 1095 as well. Very tough, they come with a great edge that isn't too thick, and it's a great using knife.
