Looking for good boots

lol, just raggin ya.

There are loads of decent boots out there. Scarpa are by far my fav boot maker though. I cant find a decent selection here and Internet shopping for footwear is hit amd miss at best.

Have had good luck with Lowa boots (German).

I have a fairly wide foot, and Lowa actually makes a 12.5. Most makers don't.

they cant be resoled so this is an issue for me as i wear vibram down pretty quick.
That's my concern with my boots. I love my Merrells, they're solid as a rock, but I can see that the tops will outlive the Vibram by a wide margin, and they are not resoleable. It's a pity, such a waste of beautiful leather.

skammer, which Limmers do you have? Standard, midweight, or lightweight? Do they have enough toe wiggleroom?

As to your previous question that they don't look anything like Meindl, I didn't mean to imply they were standard Meindl models. I only heard they were made in Germany by Meindl for Limmer based on Limmers' designs.

I have the standard wide size off the shelf boot. As far as I can tell (with some research) you are correct about the Limmer off the shelf boots being made by Meindl to Limmer specs.:D

I like thick insoles and wear thick socks in the shoulder season so the wide boot fit well at first and now are perfect. The thing about Limmers most dont understand is that it will take weeks and months to break them in. The leather will mould to your feet for a custom fit in the end and give you years of hard service.

YOu have to give these boots a chance as they can be a pain in the foot for a while but they are like stiff slippers when worked in.;) Any fine adjustments can be made by a good boot fitter.

Lots of toe wiggle room too as the leather stretched nicely to form a good wide toe box. If you have the time and money you can get them custom fitted of course. I suggest starting the process of breaking in a pair of Limmers a full season ahead of when you need them to fit well.
