Looking for good tomahawk maker...

I wasn't joking. This was more modeled after an idea of what a functional fokos would look like from my noggin :)

I have a few books on hawks and never noticed how long some of the hafts actually where.

I wonder if any documentation would show if they were used as a walking implement like the fokos.

It just makes sense (to me anyway) that a hawk/walking stick combo would be an obvoious evolution.

Well, whatever you did, it sure came out nice :)

I don't know. The only thing I came across was that the Indians used to install long, sometimes flexible hafts on their hawks so that they could better use them while on horseback. Ouch.

A long flexible haft ; that would provide a whipping action in the blow, would be a devistating.

Oh I forgot. The treatment to the haft of rugger's fokos is just grooves from the edge of the grinding belt.

The last order I took for a commissioned hawk was right here in this very forum with a simple request.

That'd be me. And boy can I tell you that it is beautiful. Mark just sent me a teaser picture tonight. Like it's been said, heirloom quality and 100% functionality. Great pleasure to work with as well. I'd recommend Mark in a second to anyone willing to wait a few weeks for a custom hawk job.

Am I ever glad I opened this thread...that Rugger has some kewl toys ;)

I'm going to start a fokos thread so I don't drag this one OT.
