Basic 11's the best, hands down. Actually, sore hands, but not as sore as it would've been with other choppers that I've messed around with.
I just came back from a trip where I chopped for about three hours straight, slept, woke up and chopped for another hour. It was my first time doing serious chopping as I live in NYC and don't get to do this much often, but I am still really impressed with what it can do. I dream of using something cooler-looking, like a Battle Mistress or a Killa Zilla, but when you need to get down to the basics, you use the Basics. B11, no question about it. Comfortable, light, strong, narrow and thin enough to do fine work if you need to (I was making feather sticks with it and, yes, that was also the first time I've seriously taken the time to make feather sticks). I was almost going to sell mine, but we've got a good relation now. I believe the Dog Father might be a good B11 equivalent from the scrap yard, and I know someone on the forum likes his more than the B11.
The FFBM of course is also good, and the NMFBM is the queen of it all if you're willing to go overboard but stay within what's feasible (there's a MOAB but it's not production, it's really rare, and it's expensive). But it's such a huge, wide blade that it's almost comedic for me to try and swing one around, so I'm only getting one for my collection. FFBM is more practical, I'd think.
