Any one know a good place to get Bowie knives I’ve been looking for a bone or wood handled one for a while but all I really find is the badly made Pakistani or Chinese stuff with fake wood or bone or are complete scams I really need something I can put through hell and back

Would've suggested the CS Laredo, but saw the OP mention chopping wood. At one time the carbon Laredos had a cable tang, and the san mai version had the cable replaced with a solid rod. Not sure if that's still the case these days, but don't think either is very suitable for heavy chopping.

Stag handled CS Trailmasters are nice, but rare and expensive these days.
Boker Arbolito El Gigante
Several custom makers here
The stag trailmasters had a cable tang

Here’s a Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works Deep Woods Bowie that Ted Frizzel custom made to my taste. I wanted a similar profile as the Deeps Woods Bowie without the pronounced clip point. I was looking for something similar to the knife that Jim Bowie was described as carrying and using during the Vidalia Sandbar Fight in 1827. This a super tough no nonsense custom knife made from 1/4” 5160 steel with an awesome heat treat for $250. You seriously should consider MMWH.

Phillip Patton. He's on this forum. Excellent knives, fair prices. I have a kitchen knife from him that gets used daily.

Sounds lile you're thinking of a mini machete with a clip point. I think the clip point is the only thing unique to a 'bowie'. Otherwise, it can be practically anything. But the bowie style became famous as a fighting knife. The first ones were made of worn files.

Sounds like the OP is going for a custom. Good choice!

I’ll toss in a vote for the CS Trailmaster or Laredo Bowie. Both are awesome, you’ll likely actually use the Trailmaster. The Bowie is just cool and fun. I have several pre GSM versions of both. Nice knives.

I didn't see Steevee mentioned, he builds some very nice Bowies. He's in Poland but I had no problem with a custom order and will order again. I picked up this one on the forum about two weeks ago, fits your criteria. His name is Lucas and he always responds quickly and keeps you up to date.

There's a nice Matt Lamey Bowie for sale in the fixed blade FS forum. Not mine but wish it was, really nice bowie. Good luck on you hunt...the fun part. 👍
That’s a nice one 10.5” blade… the MONT at Perry Knife Works is 10” and about half the price of you are not looking to spend $700.

Might as well get a big one.... :D ....... Camillus Fisk OVB from a bunch of years ago.

Scratch the itch and get a Buck 120 General while you look for a custom/custom maker.

Affordable, readily available.... a bit short in the chopping department but I'm no knife chopper so.... everyone should have one in their collection.

Or!
Build out a kit blade. Granted it won't be the latest super steel but you'll learn a bunch and really appreciate that custom when you get it.
This one came from Jantz

All of the above are relatively thin blades.
I had a Recon Scout and sold it, felt like I was holding a brick.

I've never seen A sheath with metal ring in it like that before, that's interesting!

also that top bill might be $100... But the rest are all $1's! 🤣😂

I made the sheath, used hog rings instead of hand sewing. I'd still be there hand sewing....
I'll gladly reshoot the photo if you want to supply some more C-Notes...... One was all I had left.
I spent the others on knives :D

While im full time kitchen knife maker, sometimes i make bowie knives for fun. This badboy is forged out of 420 stainless clad over 1084 core (optimized for toughness). Youre likely to break your wrist before braking this blade considering its forged geometry and very aggressive grind. It split wood like a dream. Has 11" blade length and only 435 grams, moves fast and steady on hand thanks to the design i used. African ebony with 3 carbon fiber pins, handle aint going anywhere even when abused.

Im still reluctant for selling this one, im a really sucker for bowie knives and im heavily considering keep for me, but thought you might appreciate some pictures.
0.JPG A less expensive design from me brut de forge out of 52100 steel, optimized for toughness (around 26~30 lbs/ft).

Hope you enjoy them :)

Why not?
Not sure if that qualifies as affordable but hey :)
I only recommend things that I own, have owned or used. That very pretty Buck, sadly ,isn’t one of them.
