Looking for info on my Buck 111

I have a nice unused Buck 111 and was wondering what year these were made. I was told they were made one year only. Any info is appreciated, BenVA

The original 111 with engraved aluminum frame was actually made for several years. I will need to check my binders to be sure, but my memory (often faulty at this point in my life!) says it was issued in mid-1981 and remained in the Buck catalog for about three years. I know they were available in both 3-dot and 4-dot versions.
Of course, two new 111s (one a bareheaded elk handled knife and the other with nickel silver bolsters and ironwood inlays) are based upon the famous 110 and featured in the 2005 catalog. We are awaiting actual production and shipment on these two models.
I will try to check my mid-1980s catalogs. If anybody else can give a definitive answer, feel free to jump in!!

Hello,
I had a chance to check my old catalogs this week. The 111 debuted in the 1981 catalog, but may have been available sometime in 1980. Then, it continued to be featured in every catalog through 1988. One of our very active club members told me he had special order documentation that indicates the 111 was last produced in 1990. Whether or not that is actually the case, it is obvious that the 111 was being marketed through most of the 1980s.
