I received this Sebenza in a trade without the box or Info Card. I'm looking for information such as the date it was made, the type of blade steel, and the value of the knife. It has the number 68 next to the logo and appears to be unused, with only a slight scratch on the clip.
BG42 for the steel, and I believe somewhere around 1996 for the year made. I could be wrong about the year though. Someone smarter than me will chime in soon.
By the way that is one fantastic score, you have the 68th regular produced by CRK.
That is a real nice score, if you ever need to liqudate it give me a shout.
The blade steel is more than likely BG-42 as mentioned and the date can be aproximated by the code on the inside of the scales. (I presueme the numbered knives still have that ?) It doesn't tell you when the knife was made but rather when the handle scales were made. I have no idea how long they sit before being used but it gives you an idea. The value of that knife is more than a Sebenza would cost today just how much more you could get for it would be up to the buyer really.
The steel might be ATS-34, they didn't finish changing overt BG-42 until sometime during the numbered run. Without the box and paperwork you will take a small hit on price, but I would expect it to go for half again a new model easily.
