I have a 1972 version, but the spring on the can-opener side is broken. Be careful having both blades on the same side partially open. I hear that is what leads to broken springs.
There were plenty of them floating around when I was in the army. They had boxes of them in the supply room, and anyone could get one. But after a while the brittle backspring thing made the issue TL-29 a much more desirable knife. It was common after a while of steady use for the backspring of some blade to break. Not good engineering. Plus the screwdriver blade could be a thumbnail buster. That's why you always looked for the MIL-K knife with a stud on the screwdriver blade; so you could open the darned thing.
