Looking for knife maker in Portland area who is interested in spending some time helping a newb
Good friend is moved there and just caught the knife making bug just before he left... Hence only got to spend part of a day showing him how to sharpen

Some call Portland Oregon "The knifemaking capital of the world". That may be exaggerated, but there certainly is a lot of knife business out there.

Try going to some of the many shows in that area as well as checking out the guys in the "Knifemaking 2015" annual under "Oregon knifemakers".

Lots of bladeforums members out there, too.

There are several clubs and groups, too.
