I recently bought a Lile Combat (3/16 D2 7.5 inch blade with black linen micarta scales) at a show in Solvang. At the time I bought it, I didn't realize that Jimmy was dead. For a few minutes (ok, a few days) that caused me some apprehension, then I got the knife out and fondled it a bit. Then I cut a few things with it and went, "WOW!". Then I realized that what I had was a great knife designed by a dead guy and built as I believe he would have made it himself. It's the most testosteone filled knife I own so far.
The Busses and Striders are both tough and durable, but to me were a bit too utilitarian and the grips weren't as comfortable. They certainly weren't as balanced as the Lile (full tapered tang). They weren't any less money. Are they stronger? Maybe. Will I ever break this knife? Doubtful. Lile makes some damn good knives. If you want something even stronger than a Combat but with more soul (my opinion) than a Strider or Busse Lile has a model called the Grey Ghost with a full 1/4 inch blade that seems like it could be used as a Tank opener (you know , a Tank!).
My opinion
