And if you don't like it at first, get a Boker Trance. :D

If you're on a thin budget, and you don't mind knives made in China, then you might want to check out some of the Boker+ CLB folders.

Here's the M-Type....

It has one G-10 scale, dual steel liners, 440C blade, and it's a strong frame-lock.

Good luck,

I basically have it down to two knives after a ton of deliberation.
BM mini ambush
Buck Vantage Avid

in this price range I know the spyderco tenacious is recommended a lot but I don't like liner locks without a carson flipper which prevents you from closing the knife on yourself because the flipper hits your thumb.

I really want a pink mini grip :D, but I can't justify spending $60+ on a knife.

if anyone has these two (neither seems super commonly mentioned so I doubt it) or even just one i'd love to hear about it.

Run away, NOW! WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE...

Far, far away.

The OP said he did not like liner locks. Would this not exclude the Buck Vantage, along with the Persistance and Tenacious from the above recommendations?

I don't own it, but that Boker M-type looks mighty interesting.

i get paid on saturday so I have 2 more days to read reviews and generally :jerkit: over pictures.

I'm just going to get a buck vantage avid...if I don't like it...well I don't know what I'll do. No knife stores around here at all. the hardware stores generally have a paltry selection of cheap crap and I don't have any days off to trek to a city.

I'm sure I will wind up with a mini grip in a few years, but for now I can't afford to lose something that expensive, my most expensive edc item is maybe $20 in cash at the most.

Make sure to check out YouTube for reivews and comparisons.. some of those guys do great jobs giving you a feel for a knife even if you can't really "feel" it.

&%$# yes, found a cheaper alternative the grip.

:D I can't wait.

think I could find silver screws to replace those unsightly black ones?

aesthetically I love the hole and it might be practical given the slightly bigger thumb ramp. any reason thumbstuds are better?

Nope, whatever works for you is best, in fact I would say that the majority prefer an opening hole.

If you like the looks of that knife, you might like the Blade-tech Ganyana Lite which can be found for about $20

Go to ebay and look up NAVY knife. This is the company in China that is making the Byrd line of knives for Spyderco. The one I am talking about I own two of them. Both are very very well made compression lock folders ala the para military and razor sharp, polished liners, and bank vault lock up. Also look up the RAT1 folder, again very well made and pretty bit too! Both are excellant as is the Los Banos M type. keepem sharp

I think you're going to love that knife. It's even better than the high recommendations that convinced me to get one. Kabar Doziers are an obscenely good value... as good or better than most of the more expensive knives I've seen.

I didn't know they came in pink! :D
