I purchased this from a world traveller and collector, but not of knives. He told me the handle is water buffalo horn, and it is from the Middle East. The only similar style I can find says it is of Mexican origin. I am curious if anyone can tell me anything about this knife. Thanks in advance!

Mexican Saca Tripas knife. Not water buffalo, but cattle horn for the handle. Lots of other countries use similar patterns, but that's a Mexican model.

P.S. - Just as an aside, there is a Cheech and Chong movie, I want to say "Up In Smoke" where one of the minor characters carries a huge one of these as his pocket knife.
