Alright so im trying to find a fixed blade anywhere under 8 inches OAL for edc. I've got an Izula which is just too thick, I love it for small outdoor tasks but not as much for edc. I have an esse 3 but that is just a little too big for me to comfortably carry.. (I have the Becker bk14 and 11 but sane reason I don't carry them as the izula + they are constantly rusting )

I'm looking at the spyderco street beat, spyderco mule team, or a bark River bravo. I'd like to stay around 150 and this would be used for urban edc, food prep, general cutting tasks, and last resort self defence but hopefully I'm never in that situation

Opinions?

For a feather-light and very versatile fixed blade, I like the Bark River ultra-lite bushcrafter.

Although for an urban EDC, I'd also agree that the Street Beat and Guardian 3 are great choices (perhaps better than the bushcrafter, unless you might also do some woods work).

I think Nathan Carothers is also coming out with a small fixed blade, but that might be harder to get hold of in the short term.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Mule especially when paired with wood. However, I like an EDC around 6.5" or under so my daily is the Otter #25:

6.5" Overall
3" of Blade Edge
3.25" Handle

Street Beat is a great choice. The sheath with GClip gives plenty of options for different ways to carry.
It also fits perfectly in a KSF Allegheny pocket sheath.

I say check out JK knives here, he makes great knives in that size range. I have always wanted a Toby's knife, but he has the element series also. Lastly, I have found that Wayne Childress makes some good smaller knives, he had a few recently up for sale on the exchange.
