Looking for Ontario Black Wind Katanas

i can suggest something similiar to what you're looking for. this is going to be REALLY hard to believe, but the United Cutlery Ninjato is one amazing little sword.

my kid got me one, years ago. i cut the nylon webbing wrap off the handle, removed the black coating, polished the stainless, and made some micarta scales for it.

i know everyone says stainless is no good for sword steel, but that little thing has been put to HARD USE for a LONG time and never failed. it's no longer carried because i bought a Swamp Rat Waki, but i will never part with it, it's served me too well.

check 'em out they're only 20bux, unless mine is a fluke, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

So all of United Cutlery swords suck? I just checked em out because zignal zero seems to be pretty happy with his United Cutlery Ninjato sword. I looked up some reviews on the swords i found and most of them were pretty good? But if you know somethin i don't, i'm all ears man.

i've never heard anything bad specifically about them. sorry if i implied there was already a popular opinion about them not being good. why i said it would be hard to believe is: (1) everyone says that stainless is a poor choice for swords because it is more brittle and (2) i think most people subscribe to the old "you get what you pay for" philosophy and would doubt the worth of a sword that retails for 20bux.

but, yes, i would be interested to hear other people's experiences with them.

oh, another thing - i never bolted my scales on. the drill bit i had wouldn't go through the steel (maybe it's good stuff). so, instead of stop and go buy another bit, i just glued 'em on. i grooved the back of each scale (with a cutting wheel/dremel) so it'd hold the glue better. i used 3M adhesive and "C" clamps. i figured i'd come back (one day) and drill str8 through the handle and both scales at the same time and bolt it on. i never got around to it, and even though all my friends said it would get knocked off from shock, it's held strong. i've chopped down alot of stuff with it.
