As much as I'd like to have a huge slab if Infi, at this point I'd like something that will fit in my pocket. I have a few neck knives and think I like carrying them in my front pocket (with a safe sheath - I prefer no belt carry for every day activities) better these days. I've been carrying an Izula this way for awhile and like it quite a bit. It's been getting more use than most of my knives lately. I would like to do the same with some Infi in a similar size range. I'd prefer small handle slabs like available for the Izula along with a similar blade shape, but a wrapped skeleton handle will be fine if the overall knife is smaller. I have a SAR 3 which I like and use but when it comes to pocket carry, I think I'd like something smaller. Any model suggestions and dimensional information would be much appreciated. I've seen a couple of Skeleton Wardens for sale by members and they may be just right but I wanted to know a little more about their dimensions before I bugged the owners. It has been awhile but I saw some something like a mini/elf/leprechaun/ (something indicating small) warden that had a handle also. And while I'm being picky, I kind of like the un-coated finishes though that would not stop me from buying. I'm hoping to find something reasonable in the $150 to $240 range.

If you've made it through all my blabbering, I have one question. At some point I think I saw mention of a Busse blade made from 154CM (an older one?). While I like 154CM just fine, I'm looking for Infi at this point. Am I mistaken, or should I confirm blade material when buying a pre-owned Busse?

Thank you.

skelly warden or rat warden.

Both skeletonized, lightweight, thin... and both are great choices! The Busse Skelly Wardens are all INFI, while the Rat Wardens are all SR101 steel.

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a Busse Skelly Warden on the X inside your price range. :)

The 154 was likely swamprat (busse kin) the small busse knives like you are looking for are all going to be Infi.

I have a pumpkin GW, and a Bad that toth get carried front pocket. One solution I have is to make a leather sheath with a metal gun clip style clip on the front of the sheath. Pocket carry front pocket then the handle is just peaking. So it is open carry, and so little is showing, hard to tell what I am carying.

Here is the first pocket sheath I made. With the clip. The edges are not finished in this pic, as I made it on vacation, and finished the edges after I got home.

here is the GW sheath. Notice the stitches on the front look nice, Back, not so much. That's what you get when you make a sheath while watching the TV!

Thanks all for the help. All good information. I do appreciate it and I'll let you know what I end up with. I like the deep pocket sheath carry Bigfattyt. It would probably help keep the sheath from wearing a hole in the bottom of the pocket. I've been carrying a SAR 3 a bit with the cardboard sheath all taped up. Thanks for the blade material info also (you too Jaxx).

I neck carry, belt carry or pocket carry my Skeleton Warden in a Armoralleather sheath.

When I belt carry it, I split ring the loop and attach my car keys.

Or cord wrap it and have it fitted for kydex.

It looks like the Skelly Warden, a thin Game Warden or a BAD are in the range. It looks like the GW is a bit smaller than the BAD, and all are smaller than the SAR 3?

We're waiting/hoping for a Busse folder, right?

Your setup looks pretty nice PorcupineMnts66. Are the Armoralleather sheaths custom, off the shelf or both. If they have a web site, I will check it out. Thanks. (Just checked them out - they will probably be getting my business in the not too distant future - nice looking work.)

Buy some pants with bigger pockets!

:D

You could probably get some vintage Police uniform pants with the old 4-D cell flashlight pocket along the leg and fit a big ole' chunk of INFI in there!

:D

David Brown is sort of a like a black hole. His gravitational pull has been sucking in all the HACKs. :D

You should be able to fit a FBM in the 4D cell flashlight pocket :eek:

There is also the Cultellus. Long slender knife with a skinny blade. With a pouch sheath it works very well for deep pocket carry.

btw, Leprechaun Warden refers to a particular color combo, not a smaller knife.

The Game Wardens came in a range of blade thicknesses, from a useful 0.14" up to stupid thick.

Great information everyone. This gives me a good bit to go on. Thanks for the additional pictures Bigfattyt and PorcupineMtns66. The photo size comparisons definitely make things clear. Thanks for the correction on the Leprechaun Warden Resinguy. So I guess based on all that's been discussed, I'll be wearing baggy pants with very deep pockets - a Gladius in the deeeep cargo pockets and a sheathed GW or Skeleton Warden in the upper pockets (but then again, the AD and Cultellus look pretty sweet also). Don't have any large Busses yet, but maybe in the not too distant future.....it's a race between funds procurement and my family discovering how sick I really am and putting me away.

FYI I carry a thin .140 GW (like the GW LE above) in a round-ended Armoralleather badass sheath in my front right pocket every day - I've had ADs, BADs, and SAR-3s, but I find the thin GW/badass combo the be the most pocketable (if that's a word) for my around-town EDC.
The skelly warden is also a good choice (carried one in a similar sheath for a while) but I much prefer the grip provided by the micarta slabs, plus it looks friendlier, not so tactical, which is important when you carry it daily around non-knife people. My two cents.
Good luck with your choice.

I've pocket carried a swamp rat rat tail for several months and it was nearly perfect. I'm now going to see if I can manage it with the CABS.

Thanks guys! :D The badass (developed by Gundy and I) has proved to be the most versatile and popular of all my designs so far, and I am extremely flattered that its the most copied as well. All my edc Busse's are in badass X loop sheaths, they just dont look like a sheath to people.

I think the Game Warden is very nice for pocket carry, I just bought one from the exchange forum, can't wait :)
But I still have to get a good kydex sheath made for it.
