Looking for press plans.....

As much as I love hand forging I'm starting to pay a price for it with my hands and wrists. I picked up a cylinder Tuesday and once I get it checked out and its in good shape I plan to get the rest of what I'm needing. I was told that the cylinder I have would easily do 30 tons. I know there are several different press plans around but what I now about presses I could put in a pee's brain. Help is needed!

Hey Ray, Me and the Dirty... er... Mark Williams are in the same club. Looks like you have the qualifications to join us, but I'm sad to hear it. Your blades are great and stylish. I'm thinking one of these:

I'm working on a compact design to move anywhere easily
I have a new Honda 8HP gas engine for power.
the peak power RPM's I'm not sure of yet..but I'd find that out soon.
? with the increased HP, and looking for 35 40 ton min a lot more if it works right
with the ram speed I'll need.
do you know what the min cly size and pump I'd need?

a two stag pump is a must..

also
does anyone know what the tonage spec's are for the heavy square tubing is?
say 4"x4" or 5"x 5" thick wall..I'm not sure of the schedule weight?
I'm thinking big I beam may be a waste, weight, size to strength, ratio wise.

Thanks for all the information! A fellow has offered to send me the Batson book on presses so that should give me what I'm after. As for the hand forging goes I'm not going to quit doing it but what has been happening I've been moving alot of steel by hand that could be done with a press much easier. I'll still be hand forging to shape like normal untill I can't lift a hammer anymore. It has nothing to do with me being a carpenter for almost 30 years.
