looking for my first Rat, what would be the best to start out with? :) don't go camping any more so i may not need a large Rat yet.
 
The three is very popular, but the Izula is absolutely the local gateway drug.
 
what do you want to do with it?
Izula is a good size for bird & trout/small game if you hunt or fish.
ESEE3 & 4 are both good sizes for food prep or general yard/farm cutting duties - either would work well.
the upcoming (no pricing or release date yet) Izula Folder should make a great pocket carry GP/EDC knife, but that won't help you today. :)
 
I would have to say an Izula or the ESEE 3 MIL would be a great choice for a first one. They are both small enough to EDC if you can where you live.
 
I picked the Izula for my first ESEE, just got it today, and I'm very impressed. You won't be disappointed with any of them.

i started with the izula, and now i have a RC-3 in the mail! :eek:
i am like an addict or something! :D
 
When I bought mine 1st Rat/ESEE it wasnt just one it was a RC-3, RC-4 and an Izula followed by a H.E.S.T very soon after.
 
I went the opposite direction. Got an RC-5 first as it was a unique knife, then followed up with an RC-4 for more everyday hiking/camping chores.

well i have an RC-3 in the mail, and a CRK sebenza coming after the RC-3 :eek: . i have gone insane! :eek: it is more of an addiction to knives, that is what i have. :D

I got started with an IZULA.

I have an ESEE 6 in the mail right now.

These knives are like crack, once you have one, you need another, and another, and...
