I saw where SMKW had a limited supply of the orange handled RC-5 SERE knives on their cable show a few months back and have been searching for a supplier who still has some for sale. I'm sorry I missed out on those as they sold for only $89.00 each.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Wow. I would have instantly picked one up at that price. Let me know if you find some.

I am not very familiar with the Ontario RATs, but there has been recent discussion of them. Maybe they made an RC-5 version? Total stab in the dark, but maybe.

It was definately the RC-5 SERE but with the orange scales. I had seen them once before on the military channel showing them being issued as part of a pilot survival kit just before they popped up on SMKW's cable show.
Had the bow drill dimple and everything.

Cool, thats good information. I'll be on the net all day. Let you know if I find anything.

If you look at RC website, they only list 2 color, black & OD green, options for the RC-5 blade, and the handle is canvas mircata. If SMKW had an orange handle version, it probably didnt come from RC, and would that void the warranty? Something to think about.
SMKW is great BTW, had 1 transaction with them

There hasn't been a RC 5 with Orange handles. Unless it was super secret and Jeff kept it to himself. Which, we all know, he wouldn't do.

SMKW Does not sell Rat Cutlery (RC) knives, I am on there site right now. They have a limited supply of Ontario RATS. I wish they sold them I go there about 4 times a year.

I'd need to see pics or have some confirmation from either Jeff at RAT or Rowen. If there is an orange handled RC-5 we would have seen it or heard about it by now. Not saying the OP is making it up, but I feel this may be a case of mistaken identity. I sincerely hope I'm wrong as a safety orange RC-5 would be sweet. It would totally negate the "escape and evasion" scenario for the which the knife is designed, but sweet nonetheless:)

edit: reading the first post again, 89.99 seems like a ridiculous price for an RC-5.

No such thing my friend. With SMKW history of selling knockoffs and RATs recent popularity I think I might know what happened.;)

If anyone finds one let Jeff know with a link so he can send out a nastygram.

I remember a thread that Mike started awhile ago that said that SMKW's did start selling RC RATS back in August. I dont know why they havent updated the site though.

mtngoat, Some items are in store only, not listed online, and you would call in an order. I bought a Condor Golok from SMKW last month, if you look it is not listed on their website. In case your wondering how then I knew SMKW had Condor Goloks, I called Condor K&T about the golok and I was told SMKW had them, thats how I found out.

Yeah, I never saw them on the website but it was on the TV show they have twice a week on Dish Network. I love the RC-5 so I recognized it right away. That indent in the scales is what caught my eye to begin with. If it was a knock-off it was dead on. Supposedly only made for the military but if noone here has ever seen it them it had to be fishy. Especially for that price.
