As the title says, I'm looking for modern folders that are four inches or smaller when closed. I've only collected slipjoint knives for a while, but would like to add some modern knives to my carry. A lot of modern folders are pretty large, I'd appreciate some recommendations for smaller models or makers to look at.

In terms of price range, I'm looking to keep it sub $400. Currently the modern folder that I'm carrying is a ZT 450, which I have been enjoying. Coming from a traditional/slipjoint background, a small flipper (lock type undetermined, I figure I'll have to try a few and see what I like) would be ideal for a change of pace.

What about a Spyderco Mantra 1 or 2?
Ti framelock flipper, with a thin M4 blade.

At that price I think I'd recommend the Reate Wave. It might be a hair longer than 4" closed but it's a great, compact Ti flipper with M390 blade.

For a little less money maybe check out the Kizer Mini Intrepid or Gemini

Unless you are going for something higher end, I think you would be hard pressed to best a Sypderco Dragongly in ZDP, or a Benchmade Mini Griptillian.

Spyderco Techno or Dice. Dfly as mentioned above.

Zeiba Mini S2. Love it! Small, super well flipper with Ti and M390, made in Brooklyn!
