I'm working on an etching machine and was hoping someone has a scrap piece of stainless big enough for the contact pad they could part with.

Thanks in advance!

Try your nearest dollar store, lots of stainless kitchen stuff there for a buck.

..lots cheaper than any postage from anywhere

Thrift stores are often times even cheaper than the dollar store.

Edited because I think faster than I type......

I just got a 4x3" 3/8 thick chunk of stainless from a local steel supplier for like 2 bucks. If you have a supplier close, just ask them if they have a piece of scrap around that you can have and you might get lucky.

What size/shape do you need?

I got some 10g (0.135") 304 sheared into strips various sizes - 1" x 5" to 2.5" x 10"... if you pay $5 for flat-rate envelope, I could give you a half-dozen pieces. Its got a #4 finish ("brush").

I could get something else too.

God I'm dumb. I was at a thrift shop today picking up some denim for micarta and looked at a couple hundred cheap kitchen knives with stainless blades for .50 each. I thought about picking one up to play with the etcher when it's done and with a little metal plating. Didn't even cross my mind to cut one up even thought it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Anyone lives close by, feel free to come by and smack me in the back of the head.

Thanks for the offer tho' pattriqq, I love this place just for you kind of people.
