Ok guys just finished an 01 blank in the filing jig and it went fine but now I'm switching to D2. Now with working 20 years in the die shop I do relize D2 isa much tougher steel than 01 but when filing I'm noticing that about 1/2 way through the bevel on my first side my file started sliding and won't bite in. I'm also starting to see shiny spots. I bought a new more aggressive Nickelson file but maybe its dulling up already. Is it work hardening on me?
Any tips on filing D2 and to keep it cutting? Do I just need to lean into it more aggressively or is this just the way D2 is when filing. My experience with D2 has always been machining it. Ive never had experiance hand or bench working it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank guys!
