So as you guys know I just lost my benchmade grip yesterday. My lovely gf has said that she will buy me a new knife as long as it was no more expensive 80 then that was. The thing is I don't really think I want another grip because I just don't really like the axis lock that much. For me it's just idk I guess an inconvenience to use because I have limited use of my right thumb and several of my fingers. Long story short was when I was a younger child I wanted to skate like my friends ended up falling onto the curb and have nerve damage in my right hand and multiple problems with my left wrist. I been shopping around at a few online places and was looking at the cold steel ak 47 because I think the wave on the rajah I used to have was very useful and I liked my voyager when I had it. I sold both knives a few months back. I just thought I would come on here and see what you guys would suggest doing with 80 bucks. My only requirements is around 3.5 inch blade and either a back lock or a liner.

Appreciate the help guys thanks.

Endura/delica sound like they'd fit the bill....also I feel for ya when I tried to lear to skate.....well long story short I lost a my thumb nail, never quite was right again..

Skating is evil. Any experience with how the wave on the endura and delicas are? Just noticed you could get them with it.

Idk I'm going to count out the endura, I've handled it before and don't like the handles much.

i don't get the OP. nearly all locks require the thumb to unlock and the axis is, well, just about the easiest to work (or am i wrong?) how 'bout a fixed blade?

or should you try left hand models?

I don't know man the Axis lock is probably one of the easiest to unlock with either hand for me. I would suggest a Spyderco UKPK, no locks needed. I have a few Ti UKPK's and love them, they can be had on your(girlfriends) budget. Good luck though on whatever you decide.

They all require thumb but for what ever the reason was I had a hard time with the axis lock. I could probably try left hand models. When I use my lock backs I usually use 2 hands but pushing the lock down as long as it isn't real stuff is so able, the pulling is what was giving me problems, it might just have been me in not faulting the knife or the company, I would just be more comfortable staying away from the design. Liner locks I always full the knife over in my Palm and pull the liner with my middle and ring finger and close the blade with my left hand. I'm not really looking for like speedy tactical support quick deployment or closing, just ease of use. If your wondering I can't really flock my knives open very well either

Blem CF Blur? The A/O makes it such that you don't need a great deal of manual dexterity to open the knife. The handle is fairly wide, and liner lock extends out a bit from the handle, so it's easy to get your thumb on it to disengage. The Stretch might also be good. The handle is a bit wider than the Endura, which does provide a more comfortable grip. The RAT-1 is also a great handling knife, and relatively inexpensive.

The Kershaw Knockout or Piston might also be good. I haven't handled either, but the designs do look pretty great. Both are also assisted-opening flippers, which are about as easy to open as automatics.

Here are pics of the CF Blur, Stretch, and RAT-1. I've included the Endura and Grip for size reference/comparison, since you've handled those.

If the CS-style wave works for you, then go with a knife that has a CS-style wave, like the AK or Mini AK. Seems pretty clear to me.
On another note, I'm surprised that someone with hand problems can easily operate a Tri-Ad. I haven't handled all the models with that lock, but on the ones I've played around with, it's required a fair amount of strength to disengage. (Compared to other locks, anyway.) How could something like that be easier for you than an Axis?

I use 2 hands on the triad locks lol I use 2 hands most of the time to close it since I don't trust that I won't slip and end up cutting myself, if done it several times before so I have given up on that.

How about a Bradley Balisong . If they are not illegal in your parts.Have you tried the button lock design? I am trying to think of a knife around 80 bucks that uses a botton lock but the brain is blank .....sorry . I sure there is one though:D

Stretch looks like good size, I liked the size of the grip that and the opening home on the stretch looks pretty big and easy to get into.

Delica is way too small, like pulling out a toothpick. Endura is a better suit for a wave opener.

Oh, okay.
I'll second both the Piston/Knockout/Echelon and Endura/Stretch recommendations. The Spydercos especially, since Spyderco's mid locks are especially easy to manipulate. (Or at least on the Stretch and Endura, they are.) I doubt you'd have a problem opening or closing the knife with one hand, even without a wave.

FYI...the AXIS can be engage only using your index...don't need to apply the thumb. Vice versa...only need the thumb, no need index.

The sog flash 2 with the arc lock...only a thumb side.

If this is the case, Spyderco ball lock is out...

Axis is still a better choice over two handed closing. Lock back one handed needs a damn strong index and a grip that clear way for the blade to close.

I think an AXIS lock for you, only using one side, the index side is best option...that's if you want one hande disengage/closing. If you are 2 handed closing, then a A/O like the barrage is sweet.

Paramilitary 2 and never look back! Use mine every day, had an accident with a blade when I was younger and have no feeling in my index and middle finger right hand, can't bend my index completely. Same situation, can use my PM2 with ease.
