Looking for some help on values . . . . .

but from watching the exchange, the market seems to be softer for customs than it is for production models now.

I have generally observed this as well. The production models seem to retain or increase in value at a greater rate than the customs. Ironically, it has pushed me toward being a lot less squeemish about using a custom. Seems like you can sell a used custom for not much less than you'd be able to sell a mint custom (IMHO)....particularly if it is a satin finish that is pretty easy to restore.

Looks an awful lot like a BATAC/SJTAC type blank was used on the short one... or is it just me?

The saber grind made me wonder if it was a NARK. It is really too short for the SJT and the BAT was at least a year away.

Thanks for the input from those that provided their thoughts on these blades. I appreciate the assistance.

. . . . .

Rick,

Thanks for the information. I am not sure that the large ST-56 actually came from a BM-e blank though and is nearly a 9" blade. I think it may have come from a FBM blank. As for the small ST-56, I really am not sure which blank it came from. They both are very fast in the hand and definitely unique.

Thanks,
Ron

The ST-56 protos were sold at Blade '06. That might be a useful data point.

The long one was billed as a BM-e Variant, which is another clue for pricing. Short one looks like a TAC handle, but the low saber grind throws the profile of the donor blade in question.

Well they can move blade to California and you wouldnt have to pay that aweful sales tax anymore. :D

Move Blade to California? Probably not the best idea- the weight of all that INFI in one place might nudge the whole state into the Pacific. Here in Georgia, we are on much more stable footing. :D
