looking for some new Books.

I have not read anything since 50 Shades of Gray. I do not recommend that for you reading, I don't think it would be your cup of tea.

I got the set for my wife last Christmas. Her reading them has been my cup of tea. ;)

Now try the Sleeping Beauty trilogy written by Anne Rice under the pseudonym, A. N. Roquelaure ;):D

I'll second Dune. The whole series is good, but the first book is AMAZING.

One series I recommend to everyone is the Little Britches series by Moody. I can't wait to read these books to my kids.

Ralph Moody was eight years old in 1906 when his family moved from New Hampshire to a Colorado ranch. Through his eyes we experience the pleasures and perils of ranching there early in the twentieth century. Auctions and roundups, family picnics, irrigation wars, tornadoes and wind storms give authentic color to Little Britches. So do adventures, wonderfully told, that equip Ralph to take his father's place when it becomes necessary.

I have heard good things about those books!

Lexi, let me know what you think after you read them!

Blood Meridian and No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy were awesome
Battlefield Earth by L Ron Hubbard (science fiction, not the weird scientology crap) also check out the Mission Earth series by him; it might take some effort because it's a 10 book series, but definitely worth it
Semper Fi by Johnnie Clark & Duty and Dishonor by Dale Dye are both Vietnam era fiction but by two guys who've been there.
I am working on Phantom Warriors by Gary Linderer and so far so good. I am also working on Black Hawk Down but I've seen the movie so many times it's really difficult. Any of Jack Coughlins sniper novels are worth looking at, can't wait for the next one, and then there's Stephen Hunters stuff which is also great...

I am going to need another book shelf soon. :D:thumbup:

Robert Ludlum's Bourne Identity series.
Any Clive Cussler for light stuff.

"Empire of the Summer Moon" by S.C. Gwynne. Historical account about Quanah Parker and the Comanches; true *hardcore* mofos.

And i assume you get your handle from 'Last Of The Mohicans'
I will be checking out S.C. Gwynne.

Shooter: The Autobiography of the Top-Ranked Marine Sniper by Jack Coughlin

That's a great book. I couldn't put it down when I started reading it. You may have read it already tho

Actually my handle is shortened from "Maquahuitl", which is an war club of sorts. Another great recommendation is "Aztec" by Gary Jennings. Awesome book.

I second and third Glory Road. And Heinlein's Assignment in Eternity, which contains 4 superb short stories that still hold up.

Lately I've been reading John Sandford's thrillers. They are about a Minnesota police big-wig who drives a Porsche 911 and kills bad guys. I'm just starting Silent Prey. You don't have to read them in order. They are similar in some ways to Reacher books, but more realistic.

Oh, and I re-read Dune every 5 years. Still holds an edge and one of the best Sci-Fi books ever, along with Glory Road and the Foundation Trilogy (Asimov).

Speaking of Heinlein add Tunnel in the sky and Farnams freehold both great books and very good for the outdoorsmen.
