Looking for some suggestions for a LEO type of knife.

Alright I have been around a while and have seen many of the Leo/Military/Paramedic threads. Most that I liked from them were Autos and that is where the regulations end my hopes.

-Knife has to be 4" or bellow
-Folding
-No Auto/Spring Assisted/ Spring Loaded

-I prefer something that is quick to deploy (I will be carrying in Left pocket with a secondary in either shirt or elsewhere so maybe Wave feature?).
-Keep in mind at times I will be wearing gloves so it has to be easy to open with or with out them on.
-Decent handle grip
-Looking for a sub $100 price point prefer to keep it under $50 as I know these often get lost/break.
-I prefer PE blades.

Thanks

Spyderco Delica4 with Emerson Wave. It has great ergos and both the wave and the thumb hole are easy to use with or without gloves. VG-10 steel holds up very well and the lockback keeps it completely secure. It has a 2.9 inch blade with a 7.2 inch over all length

Ya, I would definitely probably go with a Spyderco of some sort. Especially with gloves, the hole is going to help for one handed opening. Your department regulates the type of knife you carry? And they go as far as to say no spring assist? No doubt, there's one specific guy that did something stupid to get such a specific policy written.

Speaking from experience, knives get beat up on the road. Chances of using this for what you think (stabbing a guy in the neck with your weak hand, whilst you struggle over your gun with your strong hand) are pretty much slim to none, even the baddest of hoods. This thing is going to be used for cutting evidence/fingerprint tape, cutting up dope to field test, prying doors and windows, maybe cutting off clothing in medical situation (like mine did and ended up in evidence) and general buffoonery. I would think of something on the cheaper end...maybe a Tenacious or something comparable. Just a suggestion. And although Spyderco isn't necessarily known for this (perhaps you could find an aftermarket clip), consider something with a deep carry clip. Running, hitting fences, wrestling matches all tend to not work well with a high riding clip.

Just my 2 cents. Be safe sheepdog.

I would suggest a mini griptilian, maybe one with the opening hole.

Spydie Endura with a Wave. Although I'm not as much a fan of the sabre grind because it's not a good slicer. But I don't think cop work has much slicing of cardboard like in my job

+1 for the Endura. Mine does not have the wave feature but I can still get it deployed very quickly. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Incidentally, my buddy has been an LEO for ten years. He has carried a Spyderco Police exclusively during his time.

Another vote for a Spyderco of some sort. The Police would be the obvious choice. Should cover most requirements whilst not being in the way.

what about the smith and wesson model 911?? it has a blade so it will slice a seat belt hurry. it also has a spring loaded glass breaker for the windows.I belive it goes for around $50.00

It could just be me but I tried a S&W and they seem to be kind of sub par for the price specially when you can go for other companies that specialize in knives not guns. If you keep any knife sharp it will cut a seat belt no problem no need for an extra blade on the back

Shhhhhhh. Yes Smith and Wesson make badass guns. They suck at knives.

I would recommend this. CRKT Foresight. 3.5" blade If you get a First production it has upgraded acuto + steel. Normal versions have aus-8 which aint bad either. Great grip, just as fast if not faster than many autos. Black non glare coating. Meets all your requirements. The coolest part though is its got IKBS bearings which makes it super super fast to deploy. People will think its an auto when you open it and will want to see it.

I carry in that exact way. I have tried a few knives, but the fastest, sharpest and the one I carry everyday is a spyderco endura 4 Emerson/wave. It is very simple, just pull it hard out of your pocket and it opens. No buttons to search for, no wrist flicking, just pull. I have a lanyard on mine and it works great. It opens faster than any of my autos or assisted openers. It runs around $75 on eBay/amazon.

Something else to think about is the benchmade axis lock knives. They are technically manual, but open very fast. Pm me and I can set you up with an additional 30% code on top of your Leo discount. I just got a rift for $100, Msrp is $200+. Feel free to pm/email and questions or if ya want pics

Glass breakers on knives suck from my experience. Puts your hand way too close to the glass. Batons work much better

Another recommendation for the Endura. With the skeletonized frame under the FRN handles, it's the most solid "plastic" folder I've ever used. It's also super cheap for what it is, by far the most knife you can buy for $50. Get it with the full flat grind, it's even lighter and an incredible slicer.

Will also add the SERE 2000 to your list, but it's quite a bit over your price tag. It's the nicest non assited opening plain edge tough as nails folder I've ever had, in the "Under $200" category.

I just opened mine, wearing gloves, then cut up a pile of cardboard with it. It's a fantastic slicer, making me fall in love with hollow grinds again.

If your willing to spend $100 bucks you can add about $17 to it and get yourself a Spyderco Military If you know where to look....If your budget is tight and you can't go over a hundred get yourself an endura, great knife for the money, FFG of course, or a Spyderco stretch those knives will cut like nobodys business because of how thin the stock is, Same handle material as the endura, but IMO better ergos, you lose a little bit of blade length with the stretch , but It makes up for it in slicing ability, and awesome ergos, I would still go with a military and if you wanna know where I bought my last 2or 3 for $117.00 brand new shipped email me or pm me if you can. Edit the price went up on the millie from where i got them he went from $117.00 to $124.47 If your still interested let me know.
