Looking for something unique

I've got plenty of black G10 folders, and I think instead of spending $4xx on a Strider or Sebenza I'd rather get something with a unique styling. I have a BM Rift and I love peoples reactions when they see the handle and blade design. I'm thinking maybe something with carbon fiber (gayle bradley) or maybe another benchmade with some good styling to it.

What are some unique or different looking designed folders? I'm still wanting it to be a good useful blade, and nothing way crazy, but something different from plain jane checkered black G10.

Some blades I'm considering already

Some of the HTM knives I think are pretty unique looking.

For a truly unique folder of the highest quality, you could check out Grace Horne's work.
The only issue might be persuading her to make it in "Big" size.

Alain Valette also makes incredible one-offs.

The other option is to "Pimp" something you like, there are loads of makers this side of the Atlantic pimping knives using exotic scale materials. I'm sure you'd be able to find someone more local to do the same.

I'm only really looking at production or semi-production knives for now. I know that may not seem "unique" to some of you, but when all you see around town are $5 walmart gerber special knives, any of the examples I posted would be highly unique.

I was looking for that one there too! Thanks for the rec. I'll have to add that in to my considerations.

Bob Lum's Chinese folder from Spyderco. That is great design! BM DeJavoo is also an excellent knife - probably it is still available at some stores. Spec Bamp and Boa from Kershaw. Might be difficult to obtain, but well worth the effort. Onslaught is nice, but I would recommend Mini version - more solid and practical. BM Shoki: that is the one I plan to buy myself one day soon. I also approve Bedlam. BM 520 is a nice solid knife, but a bit heavy from my point of view. I would seriously consider 525 - its mini version.

MCUSTA basic series folders like this white-handled one (or the one in Quincewood) are on my list:

(They're also available without the faux-mascus if that's not your thing.)

If you can find it (at a 'reasonable' price), the gold series BM Griptilian features the best-looking best-feeling handle I've ever held (sculptured carbon fiber):

I already own a bump and a boa. I'll have to look at some more benchmades, and that mcusta looks nice.

I recommend to have a look at French brands such as Perceval. Very far removed from the tactical school, these are lifestyle knives. They would be a great complement to your current collection.

The Spyderco Navaja would be another to consider -- it has the same twill carbon fiber scales as the Gayle Bradley, Sage 1, etc. and a blade shape/overall profile that's like nothing else on the market.

The Gayle Bradley is probably the most useful and practical option. But you could also look at the Pohl Force.

The only thing I'm worried about with the GB is access to the lock bar. It doesn't look like it's very easy to get to.

What about a Ka-Bar Phat Bob? It's got the micarta handle, which makes each one more or less unique.

Have you given any thought to the more traditional "slipjoint" type knives for something different? Rather then the g-10/carbon fiber, you could try a jigged bone or exotic wood handle for something different. If you prefer a lock blade, I know GEC makes a traditional looking knife with a linerlock.

Otherwise, check out some limited editions of some knifes. For example...http://www.knivesshipfree.com/product_info.php?cPath=697_702&products_id=8402

The lockbar has texturing and a small cutout on it, which actually make it pretty easy to access/manipulate. So don't let that deter you.

Took a little getting used to at first, but it's not a problem now. Actually, it's kind of good that it won't accidentally disengage easily.

I think you ought to consider Emerson Knives as well: I would suggest you take a look at the Gentleman Jim, even more so at the Gypsy Jack (VERY unique looking knife, IMHO) and, if you are willing to wait a few more weeks, the Persian Tactical Folder which is up for preorder now.
Ok the handles are just G10 and are very much on the tactical side, but the blades of these knives I mentioned are very unique. Finally, Emersons are built like tanks...

PS: I own all these knives I mentioned up here and I am very happy with them (I also preordered another Persian...persian blades are my fave, can't have enough!). I also own one of the knives you are looking at: the BM860 Bedlam. It's another very fine knife, it's actually the knife I EDC these days (I'd love to EDC the 8600 I have, but here where I live, a 4 in. auto would get me in jail in a millisecond)...
