Hello all! So I am on the hunt for a reliable "buy it for life" quality fixed blade and was hoping you all could help me out. I've seen a bunch that fit that category but I am looking for something with a stainless steel blade (Vg10 would be ideal) and I REALLY want a blue and black g10 handle and
ideally I want the blade to be 3.5-4 inches with an overall length of around 8-8.5 inches.
I saw the ESEE 3 and also saw some blue and black scales from the knife connection https://www.theknifeconnection.net/esee-3-and-4-series-compact-custom-handle-kit-blue-and-black-g10/ which is an IDEAL set up but unfortunately, I don't want to have to worry about rust :/

Does anyone have any ideas where I should look? Thanks a lot!!

Greetings. I am not super up to date on ESEE products, but I believe they were releasing some of their knives in stainless steel. I know they at least have the Izula available in 440C, so the others may be upcoming.

A busse anniversary mean street with blue and black G10. Infi isn't stainless, but it practically is.

I carry and use mine every day.

You could try a Spyderco Mule Team knife (the MT 20 and MT 22 sound pretty corrosion resistant) paired with a set of Halpern Titanium handle scales in "Jet Black / Royal Blue Alternating Layers of G-10". Then, the only issue is getting a sheath, but there are a lot of cheap and cheerful options out there, or you could go with some custom kydex if you plan on keeping the knife for a long time. I love my Spyderco Mules, especially my Woodcraft Mule....

The Esee 4 comes in stainless. Not exactly a thin slicey knife but you can bring the edge angle down to make it more so. The summers here are particularly humid and rust can be an issue. However, with just a minimal amount of perpetration I have managed to make my carbon knives acceptably rust free. Unless it is a water knife I wouldn't exclude a knife based on rust resistance alone.

@tknife
The Izula is a bit small for me, I went to my local knife shop and held one and did not really feel it "fit" with me. When I first went on my hunt the izula was going to be it but it just didn't happen.

@docpyres
that is a sexy knife...do you happen to own the blue and black scales from Halpern? I can't actually preview them on the website.

@craytab True one can put the extra little work in to keep them rust free, but I have the money to not have to :) But thanks for the heads up on the see 4, that might be the one I get, AND the knife connection has black in blue for it hmm...

Thanks, Tom Krein made the handle for me some years ago. He also did a Damascus Mule Team for me (see pic below) that is the closest thing I have to blue/black scales, although they look more gray/black to me.

Also take a look at the custom makers. Now production prices are equal in price with customs. Take a look at the knifemakers for sale fixed blade section here, and if you don't find one, talk to some of the makers there, you'll get a great knife for good price! And you can get exactly what you want!
