...and I don't know what they are called.

I posted this in Tinkering and Embellishment, but this is probably the right area to get the answer.

I believe that my RAT-3 uses the screws I'm looking for, but I haven't taken it apart just yet (I know, I know).

They have a tapered Allen head screw on each side, and a threaded joining tube in the center. It reminds me of an hourglass when assembled. I saw them on a Porter knife this weekend at a gun show but he didn't have any to sell me...

I believe you counter-sink the scales for the bolt heads, but again, haven't played with any.

Anyone used these? I'm thinking with some blue Loc-tite they would surpass epoxy and brass peened pins for scale durability.

If you know where I could buy them I would appreciate it :)

Yep. Here they are on a knife I made a while back. I bought 'em from USAknifemaker as well. Tracy can tell you the exact angle of the countersink needed. I believe it is 82 degrees.

Thanks, J. I need to clarify...I modified the design to fit my fancy with handle and blade shape modification, and I beveled and finished out the blade and handled the knife, but the original blank was from a design by David at GLWJ. This was made for a military give away David put together. So it's a one-off collaboration from myself and Great Lakes Water Jet.
