Well, I guess I'll never learn. But I miss that dang engraved Delica so dern MUCH!
Never get emotionally attached to a frikkin KNIFE!
If you read the "Discussion" forum, you know I ....LOST... my engraved Delica.

And I guess I ..... GOTTA .... do it all over.
Oh well, ya only live once.

ANYHOW.... I'm soliciting suggestions on WHICH Spydie stainless to use this time.
I sorta wished I had done a Harpy as it is so different.
Also thinking of Dragonfly that could hang around the neck.

The loss of the Delica was from snagging my arm on the clip and pulling it out of pocket by accident. I know EXACTLY where it happened, but ads in the paper have run their course and I know I won't see it again.

What think? Does any model of ...stainless... Delica have a saber grind instead of the hollow? I really PREFER a saber grind.

But the DELICA is so dang PERFECT for so many things.

I still would like to read some suggestions to maybe give some ideas.

Thanks in advance.
:)

Thinking out loud.

How is the Police COMBO edge? I haven't cared for combo edges, but wonder if one that LONG would actually make both edges... useful.

Sorry about your loss, bro. I would do another Delica. If you liked it that much, it's probably a good fit for what you need in a knife.

TENDING that way. Except ...after... the fact, I now know that it was the size of the knife that allowed the freakish loss.
I even had a 13 loop hangman knot lanyard on it to create some extra friction.
Before I had the Delica engraved, I tried the clip both ways and could see that tip up would have unbalanced it toward the outside of the pocket.
So as opposed to all my tip up carry knives, I had the Delica engraved for tip down carry to put more weight INSIDE.
It's a mystery.
I just saw some blood on my arm and thought I had scratched it on a bush or something.
It was only when I got home that I noticed the missing knife and then measured WHERE the arm gouge was. Yep, exactly at the clip end.
If I do a SMALL knife, I'll lash it around my neck.
If a medium, possibly carry it in a (ugh) ....bag.

Endura?

hmmmm....

Anticipation.

Sorry about your loss man, know the feelin but not with a beauty like that.

I would go Police too. PE.

If you want smaller, Lava, Dragonfly.

A fully serrated Police would look amazing, but I'd have no use for it.

A knife like that, after going to all the effort, needs to be used, if for no other reason to show off your passion.

Knife Porn aint a bad thing.

i doubt that after losing the delica, he'd want a smaller knife to lose. go get a police or maybe endura?

All of the stainless Delicas and Enduras are hollow saber grind, as are the stainless Police models except for the old slab-sided first model Police which was flat-saber grind (or at least the one I have is). The Dragonfly is a great little knife, but it is a much smaller canvas for the engraving artist and the blade is full-fat grind. Ditto the Lava. The Endura might be your best option despite the hollow saber grind, as the extra length and weight make it more stable in the pocket than the Delica.

Sorry for your loss.

The Police doesn't have the extra clip holes. Which would mean that I wouldn't have to get some extra screws from Spyderco and painstakingly grind each one down to fill the holes without going into the blade area and....and... I'm getting choked up. :( :D
Anyhow that is a consideration that favors Police over Delica.
Also "Barry the Blade" used a Police in "The Client." ;)

But then Hannibal Lecter used a Harpy

Gotta make up my mind.

I sort of think you should go with a Delica again, or maybe an Endura. I think a fully serrated blade would look absolutely great though, it'd be a really bizarre combination of style/finesse and aggression.

Now yer talkin. That makes sense. And a SE in a bag would ...sorta... be practical, too. Don't NEED serrations that often.

Wave Endura exposed, SE Delica in reserve.

uh-oh.... the wave endura is thick. Doesn't cut like the thin PE Delica.

I may go nuts and not hafta worry about this anymore.

:grumpy:

Leaning WAAAY toward the Endura SERRATED.

Here's why.
I can clip it for tip up and still have a lotta steel in the pocket.
I can actually CARRY in by the clip as it would be less likely to snag out.
(I hope)
AND it wud be the FIRST "go to" knife for dragon slaying, that kinda stuff.
While down DEEP in the pocket could ride the more conventional Fallkniven U-2 that is a HECK of a user.

yep, all I gotta do now is wait for the engraver to call me back.

Another vote for Police or Lava.

Having said that, if you're leaning towards an Endura then go for it. The size and ergos have always made it a favorite of mine - have about 6 in the collection, nut no engraved SS, no, not yet.....

Lavan,

If I was in this situation and was worried about losing the knife if it was clipped in my pocket, I would do the following:

1. Get an Endura and have it done up like your gorgeous (and missing:() Delica.

2. Contact El Paso Saddlery or some other leather shop accustomed to doing floral carving on leather and get a nice custom leather pouch (floral carved of course) to fit your Endura, along with a matching carved leather belt.

This would provide a pretty secure method of carry which would be almost as stylish as your engraved Endura.

(I have a few holsters and belts made by El Paso Saddlery. Their work is very high quality and the gear lasts a long time. I am unsure if they will do a custom knife pouch, but, in this economy, I would think so. I suggest this maker due to the fact that I have personally seen some of the hand carved holsters and belts that they have produced. Here is a link that shows some of their hand carving on a western holster rig: http://www.epsaddlery.com/pc-179-49-hand-carved-cheyenne-rig-holster-only.aspx I am sure there are other good holster and saddlery shops that could also do handcarving of a belt and knife pouch).

I would also suggest a fitted sheath whatever you decide. It is worth it to protect your investment as I assume the engraving was not cheap. I have a Vess Leatherworks sheath for my Para. Fits like a glove. I prefer to just use the clip myself, but if you think this could happen again, get a sheath.
