I've gotten on an apple kick in the past month. I had some Jonathans, Honey Crisp, and today Red Delicious. What are some other readily available ones you guys recommend

Honey Crisp and Fuji are my go to.

A good Delicious is a good apple (not the giant ones) as is a good Granny Smith.

Have you tried a Sweetango?

SweeTango has much larger cells than other apples and, when you bite into it, the cells shatter rather than cleaving along the cell walls, as is the case with most popular apples. The bursting of the cells fills your mouth with juice. Chunks of SweeTango snap off in your mouth with a loud cracking sound. Although a crisp texture is the single-most prized quality in an apple, even more desirable than taste, according to one study, crispness is more a matter of acoustics than mouth feel. Vibrations pass along the lower jaw and set the cochlea trembling.

Jonagolds are hard to find around me, but are delicious. Honeycrips and Gala are also favorites.

It is too bad that Red Delicious is no longer what it once was. Twenty years ago yes, but not these days.

Honeycrisps and Pink Ladies but Pink Ladies can be hit or miss. Right now they look all beat up in my local TX stores. Might depend where you live and where they come from.

Honeycrisps or Gala, depending on if I want to spend $3.29 or $.99 a pound.

Haha, good thread. Let's see some pictures of Fiddlebacks with apples!

My go to are Gala but I enjoy most apples, the crisper the better.

the weirdest one would be the grapple. they kinda freaked me out when I tried one

looks like a apple and tastes like a grape

Golden delicious....but look for legit 'gold' color. Large shops harvest way too early and they're all green.

Today, Honey Crisp. Fuji are my fav. though.

Honeycrisp is the best I've found. Cripps Pink/Pink Lady and Jonagold are good, as are Macintosh and Fuji. If the apple has to tell you it's delicious that usually means it ain't. :D

If you go for flavor over texture, Braeburn tastes good but is a little too mealy for me.
