Looking For The Perfect Knife, Can You Help?

Nope, I'm not a "newbie". I've carried a knife since I was 10 (40+ years), I rifle since I was 14 & a handgun since I was 19. I know what I need, I know what works, and what doesn't - I just can't find it.
What I need is strong, locking folder with thumb studs or flipper (assisted or not, makes no difference) for one handed opening. I have large hands and that means a generous handle, which means a blade in 3.5" or longer length. I need a partially serrated edge to saw with (NOT any of those stupid 1/4" wide bread knife serrations!) 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the blade should do. A simple drop point is best, a clip point may suffice, I don't like the chisel pointed "Tanto" style much at all. Handle shape and material matter. I don't want my hand slipping onto the blade when I'm using it so good texture and/or finger grooves will be a necessity for drawing and using the knife. Synthetic scales are preferred over metal as I occasionally will be cutting live wires. Finally, I'll need a pocket clip for right side tip down carry. I know there are a lot of great knives out there that are only available for tip up carry, but it just doesn't work for me. I've tried (once for over a year) to get used to tip up carry and it just won't work. It's too fumble prone for the size knife I need to carry. It's not a deal breaker, but I really don't like the false edge, or swage look on so many knives available today. I think they make the knife less comfortable to use and weaken the blade. Unfortunately "everyone" seems to be doing it these days...

cold steel recon one/ voyager series come to mind as well as the spartan and ak- 47 which both have the thumb plate deployment out of pocket snag-to-open.
benchmade 551?
your thoughts of spydercos?
I prefere wider serrations. i use a buffing wheel so i can treetop with them :) i like them "slicy" as if i need a saw i can use my leatherman saw. but some people think benchmades and spydercos are too coarse, and cold steels are thin little needles that may not be strong enough but theyre like ginsu hacksaw garbage that accomplishes nothing if thats what youre into.

Oh, the ka bar mule may be a good bet. they are a more rounded sturdy wire cutting serrations. and it has a long handle, and its the least expensive of mentioned knives.
if those are an absolute no in all areas i will attempt to run mental google a second time

Sounds like a you need a Kershaw Blur half serrated.

ZT was the brand that popped into my mind the whole post. Check out the combo edge ZT0350, ZT0200, and ZT0300.

Zt 0300. Big, strong folder. Blade has no wiggle. It's basically a fixed knife that's foldable. Spring assisted opening. Only thing is you can't close it fast.

Thanks for the advice. I will check out those suggestions. I really dont like the wide serrations. I have a CRKT which would be excellent, if it were not for the Veff serrations. They bend and chip too easily!

Budget is flexible. I will pay for the "perfect" knife. But I have tied up hundreds in " almost perfect" knives.

I like the ZTs, if they are are tip down. The frame lock is a problem because of the lack of scales on one side. I rather fancy insulated scales like G10. And I know I could probably get someone to make me a custom knife, but in the back of my mind, I remember the day I lost my Al Mar Quick Silver. How sick would I feel losing a $$$$$ custom?

Zt0200 then. Very nice textured g10 handles on both sides, as it has a very stout liner lock instead of a frame lock, plus one of the most comfortable handles I've ever used. And it can go tip down.

I'll second the ZT 0200, Cold steel recon 1, Boker kala 101 or adamas. I have them all and all meet your description. Of them all the recon one serrated drop point would be the top for you.

Can't go wrong with a ZT if you have the funds. If you're looking for a budget knife a Rat 1 should suffice. The scales might be a little slick compared to G10 but they work just fine.

Then you should know by now that there is no perfect knife.

There is always something better you haven't tried yet. ;)

Adamas and Recon 1 can't go tip down for carry guys.

And if you want scales on both sides, then the ZT0350 or ZT0200 are what I recommend.

Screw benchmade.... I got the feeling this guy wants to spend some money. If you wanna spend some money the knife ya want is made by rick hinderer.. xm18. $600-1000 dollars. if you manage to find one. A sub for that knife is the ZT 560 still about $200-250 but made by same person and quality is second to none... I own one of these ZT560.. Its flawless. Titanium handle.. Elmax steel.. ball bearings that help the blade open.. its awsome.
