Hello I want a thick strong beast of a knife i can use whenever and not worry about the blade.
I own a benchmade griptillian and spyderco tenacious but i want something thicker. I Would prefer a drop point style one but it doesnt matter too much unless it looks horrible like some of the kershaws.
Thanks

Spyderco Endura would be a good choice for that price range, its good and thick all the way to the tip.

Which horrible looking Kershaws are you refering to? Do you want the knife to be strong and tough or do you want it to win a beauty contest?

It ain't under $60 but you can find the Kershaw JYDII w/ CB blade for around $60. You can also get a real tough Kershaw for about $80 in the G-10 Tyrade.

the kershaw storm 2 is a pretty strong user, only 25 dollars or so. not sure if its the thickest.

Look to Extrema Ratio.

I think they offer some of the thickest bladed folders on the market.

Double the $60, though, but if you demand thick blades you should just "do it".

clean cut knives look the best in my opinion

Dont get me wrong there are some excellent looking kershaws and spydercos out there.

Strong (well-designed), good-looking (artistically designed), cheap. Pick two, not three.

Its going to be a little out of your price range (a price difference of 6 or 7 gallons of gas) only $20 though. Its relatively thick, strong, well made and at least in my eyes its good looking…the Manix 2.

Try the CRKT M-16. Mine has been through hell and back and is still tight as ever! The M-21 is the same O/A knife with a drop point config I believe. Thickest part of the blade is around .130 and the knife has the "Lawks" system as well.

Try seven times that! MPC runs close to $500.00 I love mine though 1/4 inch thick blades rock!

A regular Kershaw Blur is a good value - the S30V bladed variant is probably ~$75 now. Another great bargain in a fantastic knife for tough use, keeping in mind it's ~ .125" spine and hollow grind with a fine bevel, is the standard Buck 110. You could have two for that $60 amount - if you shop Wally World. The JYDII 1725CB is a keeper, too - but usually ~$70. Decent choices in that $ range.

The Blur really is a nice large knife with a big thick blade. You can pick up a factory blem with S30V or S60V here in the dealers for sale forum for right in the $50 range. Thats a lot of knife with premium blade steel for the price. (BTW the blem on the S60V Blur is just a bit of a wavy grind on the back side of the blade.)

Ha, those Needs Works are ugly. They can be prettied up a bit, though.

I'd recommend the Delica/Endura group. My D4 Wave is my cheap hard-use knife. There's some lateral flexion from the scales, but it isn't a $200 knife, either. It won't break unless you're really dumb with it.

:confused:The Blur IS a nice knife, but it's NOT large IMHO.

4 1/2" clsd, almost 8" open. Thats fair to middlin " large" in my books. I didn't say giant.:D

It's been awhile since I held a Blur.I just remember it not feeling very large.I didn't realize it was 4.5" closed.I guess that's pretty big.

John I had never had a Blur and bought the S60V blem a month or so ago. It is a nice handful of knife and a steal of a deal in the $50 range IMO.
